Dearest Dr Tracy, thank you so much for your reply, since posting back in April thankfully things have improved slightly for the better. I understand that the violence stems from my daughters witnessing what happened in my first marriage which became very abusive towards us in the end, even though they were quite young it did leave a lasting impression on their young minds which I tried to compensate with lots of love and affection, my own father had a mental disorder which made him drink heavily and become agressive and this also played a part in influencing them whilst in their most impresionable age. Whilst these are not excuses to become violent themselves it also makes me aware of where it stems from. We now attend regular family sessions which are going ok and my daughter has been getting help from a drugs and alchohol councilor through the youth courts, I know it will take a great deal of love and patience from us all to be able to come to terms with what we have all been through but we are on the long road to recovery together which is the most important thing. Also my Husband and I sat down together and discussed how we both were feeling and now see the future in a much clearer way, now we talk more and dont keep secrets and have a new found trust and respect for each other. I always remember and think back to one of the Right Living lessons that dear Spyro taught at the 2006 pageant about The Definition of a Gentleman which really touched me and your article on Knowing Authentic Love, and I went through them with my Husband and it gave us back something that we both realised was missing.
