WISCONSIN AREA MUSIC INDUSTRY ANNOUNCES 2008 NOMINEES
Artists In 36 Categories Vying For State Awards


Milwaukee, WI- The Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) has announced the nominees for the 28th Annual Awards Show ceremony. The Awards Show will be held Mon., April 28, at Turner Hall, 1034 N. 4th St. in Milwaukee. Tickets will be available to nominees for purchase beginning March 18; tickets for the general public will be available to purchase beginning April 1.







The award categories and nominees are as follows:

The WAMI Awards also feature a People's Choice category for Artist/Band of the Year, with winners selected from four regions of Wisconsin. Following are the four quadrants, which ensure musicians from all areas of the state are recognized:

Southeast: Milwaukee and surrounding counties; north to Sheboygan and Fond du Lac, west to Watertown, south to the state line.

Southwest: Madison and surrounding area; north to Sauk County, east to Watertown, south and west to the state line.

Northeast: The Fox Valley, including Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Door County.

Northwest: All other areas of the state.





Nominations for the People's Choice Awards can be made in writing and submitted to Wisconsin Area Music Industry, P.O. Box 510826, Milwaukee, WI, 53202-0816. Entries, which require a name and complete mailing address, must be post-marked by March 31. Only paper ballots will be accepted, and each must be mailed in a separate envelope. Nominations forms can be downloaded from the WAMI Web site at www.wamimusic.com.

Since 1980, WAMI has offered continuing education for music industry professionals through monthly meetings and semi-annual music seminars. The group also utilizes its funds to provide a Youth Music Showcase and provides scholarships to students and emerging artists.
