Subject: Sweet Memories

Just like stepping back in time, that's what our gig was last night, May 25. We played for Fred and Dorothy's 25th Anniversary party at the historic Turner Hall in Watertown. The last time we (Ed Hause Band) played there was on a not too recent New Years Eve dance, when we alternated with Vern Mueller's Push and Pull Orchestra. It was a thrill to see the hall at near capacity with folks of all ages looking to have some fun, and, we had fun. Besides the usual helping of polkas, waltzes, schottisches, and fox trots, the high school and college groups entertained us with a highly competitive tourney of Musical chairs. When was the last time you did that at a dance? That got the ball rolling, now we had to do the Hokey Pokey, the bunny hop, and the chicken dance. The kids kept us jumping, love it!

This building was put up in 1860 and is in excellent condition. It is a musicians dream, a handy stage door, stage curtains and lighting, a large carpeted dressing room with nice furniture and stage rest room, first class! Before we fired up, I did a mid-hall sound check and found we could get by with less volume than at smaller clubs, that makes everybody happy. The accoustic are great.

Attention music organizations, consider using this great facility for your functions, it doesn't get much use nowadays. Oh yeah, cake was awesome too. Rick and I made more than one trip to the desert table, yummy!
