Hello again, Bobbe.

Great information and solid advice here. Thank you for sharing it.

Here's what the great trumpet master, Adolph "Bud" Herseth, 53 years with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, had to say about practicing:

Always, always, always practice as though you were performing. That is, don't noodle, or muddle through something. Play with the same tone, volume, touch, and emotion as you would with an audience listening in. As you practice, visual yourself at Symphony Hall on Saturday night. Strive for the perfect sound and articulation; don't knowingly settle for less.

This bit of advice was passed on to me several years ago by my mother, who studied with Bud at the New England Conservatory of Music in the 1940's. It helped move me to another plateau in my playing.

Bobbe, thanks again for your great tips!
