    A Night to Remember

    A night full of beauty, elegance, glitter, and prestige- that’s how I can describe the pre-pageant long gown competition of Miss Erath 2009 last night November 7, 2009 held at Subic Bay Yacht Club.

    There were 26 goddesses of the earth that took the runway by storm as they ramp gracefully wearing their long gown. Here are the complete pictures of the 26 lovely girls.

    Miss Brazil is very sweet, she gives me her personal leaflet that promotes her country. She is very tall, beautiful, and her personality is very vibrant.

    Miss Paraguay and Guatemala accidentally exchanged their sash but both girls are very polite. Miss Paraguay is beautiful. Her beauty is very prominent.

    Picture number one is Miss El Salvador. I actually look for her to take her picture personally for my friend who made her national costume. But when I approach her she is all smiles and she even asks me if I saw her sash. This girl is very friendly and also beautiful up close.

    Puerto Rico is also friendly and very beautiful also Tanzania and Nigeria. All in all the girls are friendly and beautiful. So for those who are under estimating these girls, please stop it because they are all beautiful in their own way.

    The top 5 placer for this segment are Brazil, Guam, Mexico, Paraguay, and Thailand. Here are more pics. Enjoy and sorry for the grammar lapses.

    27 Miss Earth beauties arriving

    Beauty contestants from 27 countries are arriving in Bacolod City for the Miss Earth 2009 Pre-Talent Competition at the L'Fisher Hotel 7 p.m. Monday, former Bacolod Rep. John Orola said yesterday.

    Eighty candidates from all over the world are joining the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant in Boracay on Nov. 22, said Orola, who arranged the Bacolod visit of the Miss Earth beauties.

    The candidates have been divided into three batches for the pre-talent competition to be held in Bacolod , Bulacan and Puerto Princesa, Orola said.

    The winners at the three venues will compete for the Miss Talent title on the final pageant night on Nov. 22, he added.

    The Miss Earth 2009 advocacy is on Environmental Tourism under the I Love Planet Earth Program. They become spokespersons and role models to create awareness on the global effects of climate change and how to deal with the recent global environmental crisis, he said.

    On arriving in Negros Monday, the 27 contestants will pay a courtesy call on Gov. Isidro Zayco, at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City at 11 a.m., who will then host lunch for them at Planta Hotel.

    Expected to arrive are Leila Adrovic of Bosnia Herzegovina, Larissa Ramos – Brazil, Malena Orozco Solano – Costa Rica, Diana Delgado – Ecuador, Mayra Aldana – El Salvador, Magalie Thierry – France, Triantafyllia Sarantinou – Greece;

    Maria Luisa Santos – Guam, Alejandra Mendoza – Honduras, Inessa Nazarova – Kazakhstan, Elza Marku – Kosovo, Zhao Vi Shan – Macau, Daniela Mizzi – Malta, Natalla Quiñones Perez – Mexico, Richa Thapamgar – Nepal, Kayieigh O' Relly – Northern Ireland, Jessica Shialer – Peru;

    Diagnelis Taymi Jimenez – Puerto Rico, Natalia Sokolovskaya – Russia, Varuna Curry – Samoa, Sarah Finlay – Scotland, Valerie Lim – Singapore, Maja Jamnik – Slovenia, Graziella Rogers – Switzerland, Niuriki Teremate – Tahiti, Evelyne Almasi – Tanzania and Rujinan Phanseethum – Thailand.

    The Miss Earth candidates at 1:30 p.m. will go to Brgy. Punta Taytay, the site of a mangrove reforestation project where they will be received by barangay officials led by Capt. Rufino Alcala and students from the Francisco Flores Elementary School .

    At 2 p.m. they will proceed to the VMA Training Center and will be received by Elizabeth Salabas, VMA Global College president, and Philippine Coast Guard officials, where they will be treated to a group demonstration in disaster preparedness, Orola said.

    Tickets for the Miss Earth Talent Competition 7 p.m. Monday with dinner are at P1,000, Orola said.

    The contestants will be given a brief tour of Silay City 's tourism attractions by Mayor Jose Montelibano. They depart for Manila at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Orola said

    Albee Benitez of Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation arranged the contestants trip to Bacolod City via Cebu Pacific, while L'Fisher Hotel provided free accommodations, he added.

    Proceeds of the dinner show will be for the benefit of the Bantay Bata Foundation 163 Negros Chapter of ABS-CBN, he said.*CPG

    Soldier given beauty queen duties

    A soldier has been given leave from her duties to represent England in the Miss World competition.


    L/Cpl Katrina Hodge, 21, from Tunbridge Wells, will take over from the previous Miss England who stepped down after her arrest over an alleged nightclub brawl.

    Organisers of Miss England said 21-year-old Rachel Christie wanted to concentrate on clearing her name.

    Miss Hodge, nicknamed Combat Barbie after being commended for bravery in Iraq, will take on beauty queen duties.

    She was first runner-up in the 2009 national contest.

    L/Cpl Hodge has been given leave from her duties as a soldier in the British Army and will represent England in the Miss World final in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 12 December.

    She was previously given an award by her unit in the Royal Anglian Regiment for her actions during a posting in Basra and has earned the nickname Combat Barbie.

    Miss Christie became involved in a dispute with another beauty queen, Miss Manchester, Sara Beverley Jones, at a Manchester nightclub earlier this week.

    Miss Jones, 24, was allegedly punched in the face after an argument said to be about Tornado, a 22-year-old Gladiator who appears in the Sky1 series and whose real name is David McIntosh.

    It is believed that Miss Jones, a club promoter and would-be actress, is an ex-girlfriend of Mr McIntosh while Miss Christie is his current partner.

    Miss Christie, athlete Linford Christie's niece, was the first black woman to be crowned Miss England and is also a heptathlete who hopes to win a medal at the 2012 Olympics.

    Verdaderamente que pobre Ingrid. Espero que supere esto prontamente, es más, que ni siquiera le haga caso a este tipo de personas xenofóbicas. Me supongo que los puertorriqueños estarán furiosos con los mexicanos, porque este no es el trato que deba hacérsele a una miss de un ningún país. De la Jones, bueno, ella siempre tan grosera y falsa, después que criticó las cirugías de las venezolanas reconoció que ella se practicó una en la nariz, pero que no dijo nada para no rayarse, que se rayen las venezolanas pues.     Beauty sleep apparently isn’t the order of the day in a beauty pageant.

    Like Miss Northern Ireland said, “How are we supposed to be beautiful if we’re not gettin’ beauty sleep?!”

    Especially if we were gonna be meeting our fans today. Haha. Not that we KNEW about the welcome reception that awaited us. We were told to dress comfortably in jeans and a red Miss Earth top for our flight to Laoag. Emblazoned on the front our mini tops were the words “I am Miss Earth”. As if the green sashes proudly declaring our the pageant and our countries weren’t statement enough. Haha.

    Naturally, a bunch of already tall girls pottering about with luggages on tall heels attracts attention. But with the eye-catching red tops and green sashes, we were suddenly celebrities in the local airport.

    I cannot even begin to describe the attention we got. We thought the picture taking was crazy at the Manila airport, what with people trying to sneak shots of us as we were eating, but we had only just gotten the least of it.

    Laoag took us by storm. Upon touch down at the Laoag International Airport we were so mesmerized by the blue skies and vast lands that the welcome reception for us was ignored. People were waiting for us and there even was a band playing, but truth be told, we did not expect any of it. When our attention was finally drawn to it, we were overwhelmed. Officials came to meet us and we were given traditional sunhats alongside ribbons. Hey, there even was a brochure with our faces printed on it! Haha.

    Welcome ribbons donned, the following awesome motorcade was particularly memorable. Riding in the brilliant sun atop open top jeeps and seeing the cheering crowds lining the streets waiting to catch a glimpse of us made it seem as though we were Hollywood celebrities. Not something we were used to. With their mobile phone cameras pointed at us, trying to snap whatever picture they could, it was a reception to remember.

    We were whisked away in a blink of an eye to the almost complete convention center for important business: tree planting. It’s not all fun and games boys and girls. We girls are here with a mission and tree planting is one small step we took today in helping to promote our green cause.

    But once we got the serious business out of the way, we got to enjoy the native lands. After touring our first destination, Saint Augustine’s church, we exited to a massive crowd of cheering, screaming and delirious “fans” - a stark contrast to the quiet and serene interior of the church. The school going kids wanted pictures. We gave them that and more. Handshakes set them screaming wildly and brought them to the brink of tears. It was like we were Beyonce. With an important and strong environmental message that is.

    We also visited the Marcos Mausoleum of the late President Ferdinand R. Marcos, watched how local food Empanada was prepared and toured another church. Wherever we went, the entourage followed. Even when we had some delish local food, the crowd was never too far behind. They peered in through whatever available windows there were, never giving their trigger happy fingers any rest. They waved, grinned and watched every move we made. Even as we were shoving the famous Pinakbet pizza and fried corn kernels down our throats, they were there watching us like a hawk. Haha.

    The Ilocos Norte hospitality was amazing; they fed us with too much food. We ate non-stop and ate too much because it’s a waste to let scrumptious food go wasted.

    Again I’m typing in the dark as the other girls nod off on the way back to our beautiful resort. We’re staying here in Laoag for 2 days before setting off to another province.

    It’s been an amazing and exhilarating day. Wow. We’re so thankful that the beautiful people here are giving us great memories to bring home to our respective countries. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

    Primero que nada, hablamos de un ser humano el cual solo (como cualquier otro) solo busca abrirse camino en su vida profesional y de por si, en su futuro.

    El que Ingrid haya pasado por dicha y tan mencionada humillacion, no quiere decir que ella posea poca inteligencia o escasa dignidad, pues ni ella ni nadie estaba por saber que la tratarian asi y le humillaran publicamente, tal lo han hecho Lupita Jones y la otra senòra a la cual no le se su nombre, pero aqui los que deberian sentir verguenza son los que ejecutaron el acto de humillacion, Ingrid no actuo de menos ni se quedo corta, si pueden apreciar en el video, ella trato de defenderse, a si misma y su punto de vista, solo que los conductores de ese show, no le quisieron dar oportunidad de expresarse, pues podemos ver con claridad que en mas de una ocacion, Ingrid intento hablar y NO LA DEJARON, la cortaron y se aseguraron de que ella no tubiese oportunidad de defenderse, aun asi Ingrid (a la cual felicito por su calse y educacion) mantubo en todo momento su sonrisa, actitud positiva y (LO QUE ES MAS IMPORTANTE) su posicion de "mujer educada y de valores" en todo momento y hasta el final, la cual al final, hasta agradece el que le hayan dado la oportunidad y como toda una dama, sale del escenario del cual casi a empujones el mismo animador la saca antes de que la misma pudiese despedirse como ya lo habia pedido, con un beso a los chicos, el cual ni le dejaron hacer, pues la sacaron.

    Asi que para concluir, Ingrid Rivera no es la humillada, si se fijan mejor, Ingrid los humillo a ellos no rebajandose a el nivel poco cultural, xenofobico y hasta vulgar en el que a la pobre la hicieron victima. Yo solo espero que dado este caso, Ingrid, mi vida, no te rebajes aun mas y deveulvete a tu isla en la cual esto jamas te lo harian, y si lo que quieres es hacer carrera, pues bien sea en USA habrian muchas oportunidades para una mujer tan bella y con clase como tu, y si lo que deseas es un pais latino que no sea Puerto Rico pues deseas carrera internacional, pues en Venezuela te recibiriamos con los brazos abiertos, que humildemente no somos la plataforma artistica que es USA, pero se que por lo menos se te trataria con dignidad y carin~o como lo hemos hecho con todos los artista boricuas que desde Iris Chacon alla en los 70s y 80s con Willie Colon, hasta hoy dia con Olga Tan~on, Ricky Martin, Chayanne y Wisin y Yandel, todos son muy respetados y ovacionados en nuestro pais como lo que son, artistas de un pais hermano que hay que respetar pues son parte de nuestra cultura latina y mas que eso, son hermanos.

    A ti Ingrid: Mucha suerte y espero que todo te salga muy bien en tu futuro!

    Me imagino todos en este foro nos identificamos con ciertas candidatas o no enamoramos de manera intensa con algunas. A veces el proceso de enchulamiento es acumulativo y otras veces viene se sopeton. Yo me enamore de Jennifer Colon cuando vi este video. Cuando le contesta a Omar: "pruebame!" (minuto 1:32). Eversince, he sido un 100% fan de nuestra Miss Mundo 2009.

    Osmel Souza rechazo categoricamente la actitud de lupita jones en un programa Mexicano hacia Miss Puerto Rico 2008, eso no se hace eso es una falta de glamour y etiqueta de una mujer hacia otra mujer. Ingrid debio haberse dado la vuelta e irse, y pensar muy bien a donde se esta metiendo y que tipo de exposicion quiere tener ella en Mexico, por que no todo lo que brilla es oro......, La Zabaleta no se quien es ni de donde viene , pero Lupita si sabe lo que es ser mujer y viene de un reinado de belleza y uno no debe humillar a nadie y menos en una television nacional, eso se llama no tener clase ..... a menos que esto sea montado y les esten pagando por eso, pero lo dudo por que esta niña Ingrid no tiene necesidad de eso........
