Usually around now this board features Miss Alabama's Miss America wardrobe -- more often than not it's through the Birmingham newspaper. I'm looking forward to it & wonder if Meg's Atlantic City wardrobe will be featured on this board.

It is never this early. The Birmingham News feature is photographed after the fashion show and before she departs. Miss Alabama is always in Atlantic City when it appears in the paper. I saw Meg recently and she has been busy with the MAP sponsors working on her wardrobe. She was excited but said it is not finalized yet because the two stores were getting new items in often and she would be going back to both.

It will most likely run in the newspaper after the fashion show on Saturday. Usually runs on Sunday or week before pageant.

The Miss America Organization, Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced today that television and recording star Zendaya will be a judge on the "2016 Miss America Competition." She joins previously announced celebrity judges including country star Brett Eldredge, author and wife of the late U.S. Navy SEAL "American Sniper" Chris Kyle, Taya Kyle, entrepreneur and businessman of ABC's "Shark Tank," Kevin O'Leary and 2014 Paralympic snowboarding bronze medalist, Amy Purdy.

Like . . . this is the best they could do in getting "qualified judges"? Every year they get crazier. Such a joke!

Their goal is not "qualified judges." They give them an orientation. Their goal is "celebrity judges" and that is a broad term.

Then Alabama needs to go to more of a celebrity panel to mesh with what our girls will encounter in Atlantic City. They'll be picking on entertainment value with these panels.

Make sure the celebrities are on ABC - like the national pageant. Or . . BRAVO - isn't that where they found the Kartrashians?

The celebrity judges are only judging the finals. The preliminary judges will judge the other 3 nights. Then the celebrity judges will watch the interviews of the top 15 or whatever the cut is this year. The celebrity judges will take it from there. I personally think the advantage with 2 panels will go to the state pageants that are more up to date and strike the current climate of society. It will be interesting to see how this celebrity panel shakes it all out.

Her gowns were typical Ann Northington lace and not well constructed.I hope she has something she can where for eg.

The gowns shown on Al.com were awful. All her gowns are the same: lace appliques covered in crystals and beads. They all look like something you would see on Toddler's and Tiaras. Miss Alabama needs something more modern.

I do not think there was lace on the red gown. I didn't see it close though.

I personally think it'd be hard to top the white gown she was crowned in. Very difficult to wear white jersey. She wore that gown--it didn't wear her.

So her gowns are already on AL. com? And man, it's time to give those lace and rhinestones a rest.

None of Meg's were shown on al.com, just some of the gowns others modeled.

Thank goodness because those gowns looked circa 1999 extremely dated! And I hope the casual wear is not worn by Meg while there either it is not flattering in any way nor does it look like her style which has been amazing at appearances and events.

Everything Meg wore in the fashion show was gorgeous! I was told she personally chose all of the clothing herself. She modeled 9 or 10 outfits and they were all really fantastic IMO. Even the Northington gowns she wore were pretty. There was a sexy red jersey gown cut low in the front and back, a 2 piece coral gown and a white lace gown. These 3 were much better than the others worn in the show.

The dresses were dated. She even had Keleigh Edwards wear Alexa Jones gown although Alexa never wore it. That dress has been around for 10 years or more. Some of those gowns were created in 2008 and before. There is nothing modern about those gowns. The jersey gown didn't look that great plus it looked very cheap. Good luck Meg.

No need to be so awful with your comments. Just like Ann Northington's awful dresses. Only a few people would defend having such an embarrassing dresses provider.

I personally liked the two piece white gown that Keleigh wore. It is one of my favorites that Ann did. What did the coral two piece look like and the white lace that Meg wore? Were they typical Ann gowns with a lot of rhinestones?

They were all typical Ann gowns lots of lace and they mostly all dated back to the mid 80's.

Sherri Hill is a sponsor of Miss America this year. Any chance the ladies will wear her gowns in the top 10 or 12?

I heard Costco was HAPPY they had to place an emergency order for red solo cups to restock their shelves since all 52 contestants bought them out for their Atlantic City trip.

Other designers have tried to change things for Miss Alabama. Some have offered to fully sponsor a fully custom wardrobe for free and have been turned down.

Other states have more than one gown sponsor/designer. I think that's probably why they have more success. They allow the winner to use the designer they have a working relationship with and it just works. Although I haven't seen Meg's gown I can't imagine that it is not "typical".

Well has anyone seen her EG? Everyone has been so hush hush about it. I was told she has a white and coral dress. and I will say Ann's coral ball gown last year she did for Caitlin was fantastic, so maybe there is hope. And she also did a pretty good job with the OT's dress this year.

I think Meg is proof that we do have good sponsors in the state, the winner just needs to be "in the know" of what is and is not currently trendy. Courtney looked like a typical sorority girl at the country club on Sunday except that gown ugh. Anna Lauren was matronly. Caitlyn I don't know what happened, she looked a hot mess from the time she set foot in AC but Meg has been on point with her choices of attire since crowning. She is current and has set a standard for what a title holder in any system should look like. So if she is getting attire from the same sponsors as the previous three this shows it was either bad choices on the title holder's part or they gave complete control to an 80 year old.

Yes, I have to give it to Meg...she really knows what flatters her and what does not. I commend her for keeping it simple, understated and current. You notice HER instead of the dress. I hope her dress tonight is along the lines of the red dress she wore last night.
