Bible Meditations for V.K. -- ., 21:59:15 08/15/09 Sat [1]
The Disciples Sent Out
And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
Mark 6:7-13 KJV

Point of View -- V.K. movie message board admin, 07:42:03 08/11/09 Tue [0]
Bases from questions on other movie forums, I've noticed some fans would like Val to return to his roots with block buster movies and such, but I've noticed how he has evolved in a different way. His way...
Some of the movies he made recently were actually created here in New Mexico. He is also a board member of the New Mexico film commission which to date has brought in million of dollars into the state economy. Starring alongside Stephen Dorff, he is also proud of "Felon" too, which was filmed in New Mexico. If you haven't seen this movie, it is very thought provoking on our prison system. However, it's understandable that some may not have found it appealing because the raw truth of real life isn't always a pretty picture to watch. Society can wear rosy colored glasses and be entertained with mega commercialized block busters time and time again. Val has even been in a few, like the ever popular 80's classic "Top Gun". But it's good to know some artists, including Val are expanding their art by creating films that reflects real life and not the idealistic fantasy made for mass appeal. "Felon" was based on a true story of California's Corcoran prison a decade ago. And I thought John Smith, played by Val Kilmer was excellent. I am not alone with my opinions either. There's also plenty of supporting articles online about "Felon", and here is just one.
Felon Article
Furthermore, a new documentary has come out titled "Unconquered". If you read the article below, it states: (Val) he loved our film and was excited to be a part of the project!
Unconquered Article
The other film Val narrated titled "American Meth" has a page of awards too. All one has to do is scroll to the left side on the American Meth website to realize this film is having an impact. This film may not have mass appeal either, but it does seem to have a voice in getting the message out about Meth and it's destructive force. That can have a more important value, than being a mega hit made simply to entertainment the masses. Then of course, there are those limiting themselves to commercialism and mass production hits and never will see American Meth based on a drug that is harming our future. Visit these links to
http://www.americanmeth.org/
http://www.myspace.com/americanmeth
Val is still the actor he has always been since graduating Juilliard College. In these real life documentaries mentioned above, Val uses his God given voice and talent that hits a nerve of reality in our society with truth that isn't always easy to take in. But the value of truth about life in these films is what is most important.
Jack Nicholson couldn't have said it better...
"You can't handle the truth"

Summer Message -- ., 19:39:30 06/11/09 Thu [1]
We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer season or pleasant weather where ever you live. In New Mexico, the state Val calls home, it has been fairly nice this month. There have been a few rain showers on and off, but mostly sunshine and breezy easy weather. Sometimes the breeze kicks up with the warm air and dirt devils develope. These can be seen especially in the southern part of the state during the day in the summer months.
And for the summer: Santa Fe Val Fan sent in a message on the movie "Delgo"
Good news. Delgo will be available on DVD on August 4!

~Saturday’s Smile in K~
I was unprepared on a painted working Saturday
From the smile you gave me along the way
Precariously flauntingly beautiful tinted
This has been permanently imprinted
Not in loose sand, but in my mind
So why do they say love is blind?
Reaping, weeping, keeping hearts a tune
Will you have concerts this summer in June?
Vertigo makes me spin circles around the moon
Those days go by unfolding slowly cramping my style
Feeling unbalance, I’d still walk forever to see your smile

Just Our Opinion -- Angel of Oz, 20:30:17 05/21/09 Thu [2]
Adam Lambert got robbed! I saw him live on stage at the Kodak Theatre with my mom and he was unbelievable singing "Is Anybody Listening" in The Ten Commandments with Val Kilmer. We both had goosebumps. I'm so glad we have up close seats. (thanks mom for that special mother-daughter trip to L.A.)
My dad actually watched American Idol's finals because of Adam. He even agreed, Adam should have won. We thought it was really cool to see him on stage with Kiss and Queen. Rock on Adam to super-stardom! That's our opinion and we're stickin to it.
p.s. True Romance is coming out in Blu-Ray this month too.

Is Anybody Listening? -- ~wendy lee, 10:34:37 04/13/09 Mon [1]
I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and Passover. Traditionally every year, our family watches the 1956 Academy award-winning movie "The Ten Commandments", with the beloved cast starring Charlton Heston, and Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter and many more. It's one of our favorite all time classics.
In 2004, many of us remember seeing the live performance at the Kodak Theatre showing "The Ten Commandments The Musical" starring Val Kilmer also. My daughter and I thought, one of the best highlights of the show was Adam Lambert performing the song "Is Anybody Listening?" as "Joshua". We got goosebumps. It's no wonder he is on American Idol and now a finalist. We hope he wins. Here's a clip of Adam singing the song from "The Ten Commandments The Musical".

The fasts are done; the Aves said;
The moon has filled her horn
And in the solemn night I watch
Before the Easter morn.
So pure, so still the starry heaven,
So hushed the brooding air,
I could hear the sweep of an angel's wings
If one should earthward fare.

Val has at least one vote and more... -- ~butterfly, 14:02:50 03/30/09 Mon [1]
We know Val will have more than one vote if he runs for Governor...
There are some online polls if you are curious.
Here is a poll if you want to vote Val Kilmer for governor too.
Go Vote
In the same New Mexico forum, there is also a poll probe that included a few old controversial statements which entertainment magazines said Val made in 2003 and 2005. Val claims he was misquoted and I believe him. Was the poll created to target Mr. Kilmer, I don't know. But whatever the reasons, I've noticed not many took part in it.
When asked by The hollywood reporter why actors are such frequent targets on "The Factor" here's how Mr. O'Reilly recently responded.
"My job is to watch the powerful. A performer has a forum that other people do not, and all we ask is that they be fair."
From The New Mexico Independent
Here's a post from The New Mexico Independent, based on an email to Steve Terrell,(political reporter at The Santa Fe New Mexican)

Val quotes - "Poetry is a very subjective and intimate expression. It's literally your heartbeat. Your rhythm. The song of your soul. It's super-concentrated. It's a dense piece of yourself."
Factoid: Val Kilmer is a distant cousin of the well known US poet Joyce Kilmer ( 1886 - 1918 )
Val also helped American Forests plant its 20 millionth tree and gave a reading of Joyce Kilmer's 'Trees' poem.
I did not include any poems from Val's book however
here is the poem he read at the tree planting ceremony:
~Trees~
by Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

The Wonderful Humanitarianism of Val Kilmer -- Michael, 11:32:04 03/03/09 Tue [1]
Hey Guys
I just wanted to spotlight all the wonderful organisations that Val Kilmer supports. Hopefully this will help people (who don't already know) see how awesome Val is and that all the negative stories about this amazing man are full of well...horse do-do.
In particular, in light of the increasingly and annoyingly frequently spreading venom of the recent "Vietnam Vets" fiasco, I would like to point out that Val does indeed support the vets who have fought in the wars and kept us safe. Val is, of course, a man of peace and is not in favour of war, but he recognises and commends the sacrifices that have been made by those who serve.
http://www.operationcominghome.org/
**Operation Coming Home is a team of veterans, homebuilders, and other volunteers that are dedicated to providing free housing in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area to severely wounded veterans of recent Middle East wars. They help make a wounded veteran feel "right at home" in the Triangle.**
It is unthinkable and inconceivable (and just plain old horse do-do) that Val would ever insult the Vets and still support charities like those above. I think Esquire magazine and a certain reprehensible website that pretends to support the military have some apologies to make to Val.
Knowing Val though, I'm sure he would be a lot more forgiving than I would be under the circumstances.
Other charities Val supports:
http://www.thewildlifecenter.org/
**The Wildlife Center is a charity that I have donated to for over ten years. We have released over one hundred wild animals on our wilderness retreat that Dr. Ramsey has PERSONALLY treated. Please check it out.**
http://www.vday.org/main.html
**I heartily support Eve Ensler's V-DAY efforts. (To help stop violence against women and girls.)**
http://www.indian-affairs.org/
**For 85 years, AAIA (Association for American Indian Affairs) has been working to promote these goals and provide the critical elements that Native American Indian children and families need to live happy, healthy and productive lives.**
http://www.warehouse21.org/
**Our mission is to inspire youth to empower themselves thorough artistic expression and productivity.**
http://www.amnesty.org/
**Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights for all.**
http://www.americares.org/
**AmeriCares is an international relief organization whose passion to help is matched by an ability to deliver.**
http://www.habitat.org/
**HFHI (Habitat for Humanity International) seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.**
Val is too modest to sing his own praises and does a lot of wonderful humanitarian work, often anonymously, but Hobbits are psychic and have no such modesty when it comes to defending those who inspire us.
Cheers, Michael

Repost of Val's response -- v.k. movie board admin, 07:12:45 02/12/09 Thu [1]
"In response to the recently quoted interview
regarding the Vietnam veterans:
I have read the interview and I certainly did not say those things.
The writer was elaborating and not able to accept the intent of empathy, and sympathy that an actor has for all human beings and the human condition.
My father served proudly in WW2 and I have never uttered a single word of disrespect to any armed servicemen anywhere ever.
I sincerely apologize for causing any discomfort to any vets and would not have pursued a line of thought that could have been turned into such an ugly version of a simple rule in acting.
You are justifiably offended, as I was when I read the supposed quotes.
I have travelled to Iraq, interviewed, and filmed on behalf of the men and women in the field and have met with some of our great retired generals. One of the greats that I had the privilege to know was Admiral Noel Gyler, a true hero, as was Colonel Gavin, whose family I was adopted by, and even asked to write his eulogy.
Sincerely,
Val Kilmer"

streets of blood trailer -- conributed and sent in by fang , 07:59:47 02/04/09 Wed [2]
Set in New Orleans in the wake of Katrina, Streets of Blood centers around Detective Andy Devereaux (Val Kilmer) who sets out to investigate the murder of his partner, brutally shot to death during the hurricane. Joined by his new partner Stan (50 Cent), Andy’s journey leads him into the dark and vicious world of police corruption. Counseled by police psychologist Dr. Nina (Sharon Stone), Andy strips away at these layers of corruption while attempting to remain clean himself, even as those in his very department conspire against him. Ultimately, Streets of Blood is a story of one man’s search for justice in a place where lawlessness and brutality reign.

Val Kilmer to run for governor for NM? -- cinnamonstar, 22:58:15 01/22/09 Thu [1]
complete story (sorry dunno how to make it clickable)
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/actor-val-kilmer-mulls-n.m.-gubernatorial-run-2009-01-20.html
"Actor Val Kilmer is strongly considering a run for New Mexico governor in 2011 when Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson will be term-limited out of office.
He told The Hill at Monday’s Huffington Post party at the Newseum that he has been approached to run for the highest office of the state where he owns a ranch and has family roots.
“Actually, they’ve asked me to run for governor,” he said, not specifying who “they” are. “People seem to want me to.”

"Heat"
Written and directed by Michael Mann
excerpt from daily press.com
"Heat" A top-notch criminal and a dedicated police detective face off in this 1995 crime drama starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. The crook (De Niro) is about to retire, and New Zealand looks good to him. But the police officer (Pacino) who has been chasing him for years wants to put him away before he can escape.
****************
Love Val Kilmer in this flick, Jon Voight also stars.
This is one of those films which can be watched again and again. "Heat" sizzles with plenty of action from an impressive collection of actors in a bank heist story.
****************
Movie Trivia:
Keanu Reeves was originally cast as Chris Shilerlis in "Heat" but later was replaced by actor Val Kilmer.

Got the Felon DVD -- Mike, 19:00:05 11/16/08 Sun [1]
Here's my take.
It's more than just a movie. It's a statement on the correctional custody system with excellent performances by Mr. Kilmer and Stephen Dorff. As the story unfolds I found myself glued to each scene with the view point from the felon allowing us to see civil laws broken behind bars. I sensed a lack of scrutiny by a system to allow the innocent to be punished with the guilty. This film is a welcome treat for Val Kilmer fans that have been waiting for more great performances from him like Tombstone and The Doors.

A Reminder to Movie Fans -- Cheshire Katz Movie Message Monitor , 10:23:36 09/05/08 Fri [4]
When filming is taking place with our favorite movie stars and cast members, take in consideration not to hinder their work by loitering in the area of film locations for a glimpse and a glare to see who's who in town. If you want to see your favorite celebrities in person, the film location is not the appropriate way.
Forunately, Mr. Kilmer has been known to do autograph shows in America and abroad for his fans. So stay tuned and visit his official website and myspace pages often for updates, espcially if you want to know about any possible future personal appearance schedules. ~butterfly has seen him several times and I've been told he is very nice, with a sense of humor in person. So if you want to find yourself star struck go to one of these events, instead of being intrusive while attempting to sneak a peek or ask for an autorgraph on and off set without permission or having a film production/crew or backstage pass.
Thank-you

Movie buzz updates -- ~butterfly, 11:05:39 09/04/08 Thu [3]
For my Friends and Val Kilmer Fans
Here's the latest update on the movie buzz in Grand Rapids Michigan. The article that is linked below does mention Val is in town. Wish I was back in my hometown which is near by to cure my homesickness with a *sigh* notion of Val working in the surrounding area. How exciting for Michiganders though to have a film like this being made there. Some of the film locations are mentioned in the article also. As for the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, it is absolutely elegant and beautiful four star diamond. Their ballrooms are wonderful for weddings, imagine a grand staircase and chandeliers. My cousin actually held an after wedding party reception dinner at the hotel, in I beleive the "1913 room" Michigan's only five star restaurant, which I attended many years ago. I have to wonder if the roasted duck is still on the menu. Yum. :-)

Movie Buzz -- beach bum ~butterfly, 14:54:56 09/03/08 Wed [1]
Hey everyone...
The latest news happens to be coming from Grand Rapids, Michigan and hits very very close to my home town. How can this get any more cool and exciting, wow.
As for Grand Rapids, the location is a beautiful place and I had a wonderful time growing up in the surrounding area paradise so close to Lake Michigan. The beaches along the western coast of the state are beautiful and made from crush quartz which feels like walking on soft sugar sand. I will admit summers are great, but winters are ice cold though.
The movie slated to start filming as early as next week in this awesome West Michigan location is called, "The Steam Experiment". Val Kilmer may also star in the film. Although this movie buzz has not been confirmed by the movie's publicist. If it does happen, I'll definitely want to see this movie especially if Val's in it.

Val + Felon = Nice One -- Megan (Thoroughly Satisfied), 19:49:38 09/02/08 Tue [2]
So... I really loved this movie. Really, really loved it.
Stephen Dorff had always been kinda "meh" to me but I really appreciated his acting in this role.
As always Val was the star.
Frankly I think good 'ol Val could do a movie where he does/says nothing but stands perfectly still wearing a garbage bag and it would still be an awesome movie hit... but that's just me :P
Went to rent Felon again (not avail to buy here til the 9th of Sept.)but it was all out.... and has been for the last 2 weeks! Hope the success continues.
Question: Is Val still doing the voice of Kitt on Knight Rider? I hope so, or I ain't watching it! lol

For Movie Lovers
Poem Inspirational and Quotes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
extracted from the story
"Through the Looking Glass"
by Lewis Carroll.
A boat, beneath a sunny sky
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July --
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear
Pleased a simple tale to hear --
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream --
Lingering in the golden gleam --
Life what is it but a dream?
Yesterday was "Alice in Wonderland" Movie Day.
In 1951, WaltDisney's cartoon movie, "Alice in Wonderland", was released.
So be sure to spread some wonder this week.
Better yet for adult viewing, be sure to watch Val Kilmer's 2003 film "Wonderland"
for more than a trip down the rabbit hole and leave the Alice movie for family night with the kids!
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
~Alice from Alice in Wonderland
"Be what you would seem to be -- or, if you'd like it put more simply -- Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."
~The Duchess, from Alice in Wonderland
"Okay Bill I'm gonna tell you a story. It's a story called Wonderland."
~Val Kilmer as John Holmes
A poem for V -- more love sighs, 17:00:36 07/08/08 Tue [1]
V star light...
Warming hearts left and right
A presence like a lasting dawn
Intoxicating gently, motivations spawn
Inspiring in storytelling, come along
Listen children to his spirit song
With fingers dancing on a flute
Unselfishly sharing his passion’s fruit
Baring a sense of hope in visions
Patiently caring and daring decisions
Giving in charity chimes by his breath
In eternal spirituality opposed to death
No fallen dark V angels will we be
Nor shattered hearts drowning in a sea
Protected and sealed heavenly true
Repentance cures mortal moods of blue
We love you so and hold on dreaming
Encircled in your light, ever gleaming
V star bright…
You are, who you are, day and night!
oxopeace in n.m. paradiseoxo
love, your friend ~w.l.
p.s. Hope your holiday weekend was surrounded with family and friends, lit with the light of love which created fireworks all its own, and stays bright through out the year!
feverish 4 a casual walk and talk for awhile...
and listening to your priceless voice with sunset in your eyes...
the romantic poet giving away more of your heart with a sweet surprise...
