A new TV action mini-series is slated for production in Nov 2007 called XIII: The Conspiracy. Based on the 1984 Franco-Belgian cult comic book series, written by Jean Van Hamme and drawn by William Vance that was later adapted into a video game.

International television producer-distributor Power, along with Prodigy Pictures and Cipango has cast American movie stars Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff.

I can't help but envy those who have recently met him and achieved my ultimate dream goal!
I always try so hard to attend one of his public appearances, but sadly can never make it.
Oh well, at least I can still hope to get one of those first 1,000 signed and personalized copies of his CDs that are going to be given away.
I heard a bit about it on his official MySpace.
I love his music now as much as his movies!

I used to have a MySpace myself, all dedicated to him, but it no longer exists, sadly.
[Maybe some on here might have seen it...
My display name was "Val Gal" and my real name is Amy...
Not to be confused with another fan of the same name, who makes awesome videos dedicated to him,
some of them have even been featured on his official music MySpace.]
I really regret deleting it, but I felt bad about all the negative stuff I kept getting from people who called me obsessed and told me to go get a life.
They just don't understand how it is to be a hopelessly devoted fan!!!
And I suppose another reason I deleted it was because I had hopes of being able to communicate with Val himself and got disappointed with no response.
But it's not surprising with the amount of comments he recieves and how busy he must be.

'AMERICAN METH' premieres Thursday: VAL KILMER narrates local producer's full-length documentary

FARMINGTON � Making the documentary "American Meth" took local filmmaker Justin Hunt from living with meth addicts to hobnobbing with actor Val Kilmer, who did the voice over for the film.
"This is a story about America, about meth in America, about what America is doing to fight back," Hunt, 30, said.

The movie premieres at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Henderson Fine Arts Center at San Juan College. Tickets are $5, which goes toward promoting the film. Running time is one hour, 25 minutes. Kilmer may come to the premiere, though Hunt said. "It'll be that day before I know."

Hunt said he wants to show meth addicts can beat the drug.

"These meth addicts, there's still good people in there," he said. "People always talk about the signs � for me it's in the eyes, the shame that's in their eyes."

To that end, he's also started a foundation, the American Meth Education Foundation, to help combat the problem.

Randy Large, interim director of the San Juan Safe Communities Initiative, which is dedicated to fighting

meth, agreed that many people don't think addicts can recover.
But "rehabilitation is possible," he said. While his organization wasn't involved in making the film, he said "anything that raises awareness of the problem helps."

Hunt paid production costs, about $20,000 himself, and hopes to raise another $200,000 to promote the film.

A native of Bloomfield, Hunt reported the news on the recently defunct KOBF television broadcast for eight years before going on to found his studio, Time & Tide Productions, where he made informational and training videos.

The seed for "American Meth" came when Leadership San Juan, a countywide community organization, commissioned him to make "Meth Monster," a documentary about the local problem.

Around the same time, a friend challenged him to reach higher.

"A friend of mine challenged me to do something big with the talents I have, to use them for a good purpose," Hunt said. "I wanted to do a project ... about something bigger than me."

He decided to expand the idea to other parts of the country, and started the movie in January 2006.

He started by finding programs in cities like Portland, Ore., and states such as Montana that seemed to be making progress in their fight against the drug.

"Meth Monster' didn't provide any hope," he said. With "American Meth," he wanted to show "what we can do if we put our minds to it."

He also located � and lived with � a couple addicted to the drug.

"I wanted to show what life was like for this couple, with four kids, and their struggle to get off meth," he said.

In examining the programs, he said, there wasn't a certain set of techniques that worked. Instead, he credited the successful programs with focusing on "selflessness."

It's not about, he said "who's in charge, or who gets credit. It can't be about that."

After shooting much of the footage, he went looking for someone to do the narration for the film. He knew Kilmer had a ranch in Taos and found a contact through the New Mexico Film Office.

He called and found the movie star was interested.

"Val was surprising to me," he said. "He loves this movie."

"When Justin Hunt called to present his script for the documentary American Meth' it took very little attention to research to recognize the desperate, serious problem that we have here at home with the "monster" meth. I felt compelled to help Justin tell this story in the hope that others will understand the need to fight its deadly presence in our society," Kilmer said.

His goals for the film, Hunt said, are to see it get the broadest distribution possible, whether on a cable channel such as A&E or MTV and/or in a film festival.

So what's next for Hunt?

"I'd like to do a comedy or something!"

Orchard Beach, The Bronx, New York

The Orchard Beach Classic Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show is a one day fundraising event which began in 2001. NYPD Highway Patrol Unit #1 Officer, Joseph Caldwell, organized the event in an effort to raise money for the families of police officers who were killed in the September 11th disaster. With much success, this benefit show has become an annual event. We have been called the largest one day classic car show on the East Coast and would like to thank you for your support in making our charitable efforts such a success!

Noticing the awareness to The 11th hour film on environmental issues on Val's Myspace, here is an interesting overview from the USA Today Newspaper.

There was a short article about a Florida couple, whom are taking initiatives building a homes of the future calling it Envirohome. It will have green technology donated from 40 companies, combined with their own money. Highlighting on some of the Green features, the home will have; a soil covered roof garden, solar panels to power the air conditioning and water heater, a driveway made from recycled tire rubber, and structural panels reinforced with steel to withstand high winds.

We can all be a part of green initiatives and an environmental activist. The first step is awareness, then wiliness. I personally am looking forward to seeing this film.
As a young child growing up in the beautiful state of Michigan near the lake, I remember those school field trips, and was so influenced by the solar technology in development. And, it was a wonderful experience gettng the chance to be up close and personal with scientists and enviromentalists as they came together creating and developing ideas in which to harness the sun's energy and then put it to many uses without polluting the air with fossils fuels. The information impacted me then, and still today. It truly is wonderful to see progress over the years, and technogoy evolve beyond solar energy too. But, there is so much more that can be done and that does take action from of us. Spread the word, join the movement, and have a GREEN DAY everyone!

�CSI� Star Joins Kilmer For �Columbus Day�
Thanks to the TV juggernaut �CSI�, Marg Helgenberger is one of the most-watched women in the world; in movies, however, it�s been a very different story thanks to duds like �Fire Down Below� and �Always.� Now, with a sweet-sounding heist flick on the horizon, Helgenberger might have better days on the big-screen ahead.

�Val Kilmer is the star of the film; he�s the lead,� grinned the perky actress, discussing �Columbus Day�, a currently-filming thriller that also stars Wilmer Valderrama. �He plays a man who�s a thief.� The flick is substantial for two reasons that go beyond Helgenberger. First off, it features Kilmer returning to the cops-and-robbers world he last mined in the 1995 classic �Heat�. Secondly, it marks the debut of writer/director Charles Burmeister, an up-and-coming Sundance protege whose �Columbus� script beat out 5500 others to win the coveted Chesterfield Screenwriting Fellowship.

�You�re introduced to [Kilmer�s character], and he�s carrying a briefcase full of something or other,� laughed Helgenberger, revealing the �Pulp Fiction�-esque plot device. �You know he just pulled off a heist, but you never find out what�s in the briefcase. He�s just trying to sell it - so he makes a series of phone calls in hopes to sell whatever is in the briefcase.� But it wouldn�t be a true heist flick, she acknowledged, unless there was a fly in the ointment. �While he�s waiting to set up this deal, there�s a young boy at the park where he�s waiting for this all to transpire; this boy and he develop a friendship, and through that relationship he realizes who the important people in his life are.�

Those people include Wilmer as a robber alongside the �CSI� superstar, cast as Kilmer�s very lonely, but lovely ex-wife. �She�s quite different than what I play on �CSI�,� Helgenberger admitted. �She�s holding down a job as a receptionist in a corporate firm, not making much money, just trying to eke it out. At the same time, she�s doing the online dating thing, and then the ex that caused all the problems to begin with contacts her again.�

Helgenberger added that although much of her performance is delivered �Phone Booth�-style, the allure of the �Real Genius� heartthrob is too much for any woman to resist. �He wants to reunite with his ex-wife and our daughter. Most of my scenes with him are over the phone, in which he contacts me and is essentially trying to woo me back into his life,� she added. �Eventually I succumb, because he�s kind of a poetic type, and I come and pick him up.�

�Columbus Day� reunites Kilmer with his former high school buddy-turned-producer Kevin Spacey; the flick is due in theaters next April.

Resident New Mexico actor Val Kilmer will star in a feature film shooting for the next month in the state.

"Conspiracy" tells the story of a special operations Marine (Kilmer) wounded in Iraq who travels to southern Arizona to start a new life on the ranch of his best friend. When he arrives, his friend has disappeared and no one will admit to knowing him. When he learns the truth, he must decide whether to take up a violent path again that he had put in his past.

First, Reliant Pictures International roster

The roster continues with "Have Dreams, Will Travel" a rites-of-passage drama set in the Mid West that is screening in the market here and stars Val Kilmer, Heather Graham, AnnaSophia Robb and newcomer Cayden Boyd.

And second, The Little Film Company is partnering with producer Lawrence Steven Meyers on Air And Fire and Serendipity Starlight. Ludivine Sagnier, Val Kilmer and Vincent Perez will star in the Rupert Thomson adaptation Air And Fire, about a clairvoyant woman who relocates with her husband to Mexico and falls for a Mexican General. Mexico�s Alejandro Springall will direct from John Sayles and Alejandro Springall�s adapted screenplay. Jay Cohen will produce with Meyers and Robbie Little is serving as executive producer. Shooting is set for the summer in Baja, Mexico. Jonathan Lynn, who previously made The Whole Nine Yards and My Cousin Vinny, will direct the romantic comedy Serendipity Starlight later this year. The story centres on an emotionally stunted woman who is finally able to fall in love with a man after she makes peace with her father. Lynn wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Hare and Julia Hare. Hi Sharon...here is an update for you. i was able to make the screening in Otero county last week, which is located in southern New Mexico. It was a very good documentary and everyone should see it. No one should fall to meth. Justin Hunt provided a wonderful discussion afterwards too. There is ~Hope~, but support and awareness is very much needed to open the doors to intervention and prevention.

Sharon sent in this article, but stated she wasn't happy with the slight negitive vibrations in the recent article, esp. since Val has been recieving good reports on his movies. I agree with her, so I posted only partial sections and not the unflattering comments about Val Kilmer and his co-actor because I thought they were also frivolous media headline opinionated lures.

The authors best comment states: I like both Val Kilmer and heist movies, so this might be something I�d like if it turns out ok.

The Otero County Meth Prevention/Treatment Coalition continues in our efforts to educate the community about the devastating effects of meth abuse on our youth, families and communities. The use of this highly addictive, brain altering drug keeps on destroying lives and straining treatment resources.

The week of April 16 through April 23 is the second annual Otero County Meth Awareness campaign. The official kickoff is Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. in front of the Otero County Courthouse on New York Avenue. Once again, a variety of educational activities have been planned for the two weeks.

If you missed the first showing of Justin Hunt's "American Meth" you will have an opportunity to see the film at the Flickinger Center on April 18. This excellent film is narrated by Val Kilmer, and shows the realities of people who use meth. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The Flickinger Center concession will be open. And there will be information available about meth. At 9:45 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., there will be an introduction by the Otero County Meth Coalition followed by a short Meth Watch presentation. The film will start at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

After the film, producer Justin Hunt will speak and open discussion to the audience. The film is free to the public, but donations will be accepted for the filmmaker.
There will be presentation at the Alamogordo Senior Center on April 18 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. by Jim Helgert from Meth Watch. He will also be talking to students at local schools.

Alvin Sallee, from NMSU/Family Preservation Institute, will host a meth workshop. This event will be held at the Counseling Center on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will not be provided. This workshop is free to the public. Please RSVP for this workshop to Lori Tilman at 437-2460.

On Wednesday evening, April 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Otero County Meth Prevention/Treatment Coalition will host a community educational forum at the Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center. This event is open to the public and we encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about this substance and its damaging effects to attend.

The members of the Otero County Meth Coalition will also host a candlelight vigil at the Rose Garden at the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired on the evening of Thursday, April 26, beginning at 7 p.m.

Meth abuse continues to impact every segment of our community. Anyone interested in establishing a local family support group or working with the Otero County Meth Prevention/Intervention and Prevention Coalition is asked to contact Sharon Hodges at 439-1367 ext. 126 or Sylvia King at 434-2016. The coalition meets every second Tuesday of the month at the Counseling Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for April 10.

We hope everyone, especially parents, will plan to attend the Meth Awareness Week events.
