You are welcome, Rick. It's a nice, lengthy review of the 1936 serial.

The site also includes reviews of The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939) and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939), as well as various other features.

I believe the October 1996 AMC broadcasts were the last time any of the three FG serials aired on a national network. It would be great to see them on the tube again at some point.

Yes, very nice article. Thanks Sgt.Tim. I recall that AMC showing (in pre-commercial days). I only taped the 1936 serial, but in retrospect, sorry I didn't tape all three. Even now, 15yrs later, the tape still looks decent, not up to Image brand dvds, but reasonalbly good, and I recorded that at some middle speed back then.

Unlikely we'll see 'em broadcast as such again, but who knows, perhaps sometimes on TCM, one chapter at a time, like they showed Ace Drummond recently...as in ye olde days in a theater as part of your entertainment package...coming attractions, newsreel, cartoons, shorts, one or two movies, parade of concession snacks/beverages, AND maybe a serial.

Think for TV, maybe we could see on TCM, maybe PBS, local cable access maybe, perhaps others, and you never know..maybe a marathon or installments someday. Chances much better if a new FG movie is made, then maybe old serials or movie versions may appear on the small screen, for a bit anyway. Our fan base here is narrowing, but it may differ in other countries and could perhaps pick up here. For now though, for us, we have to rely on the tapes/dvds we recorded, bought, or can still buy.
