I was a little concerned about the attendance for the Conejo Valley Feis until today. Just looked at the entries and they are well over 500 with time to go for more entries. This is such a good feis, and being the last one local before Worlds, an important one to support. Thanks O'Connor families!

- Is anyone else confused as to why U18 and U19 Open are combined? These two groups have been pretty large in the past. I am referring to the 1991 and 1992 age groups. Does anyone have reliable information on whether there is a rule that if you have qualified for worlds and don't go, you cannot compete in your Oireachtas and/or Worlds the next year? I have heard both of these but don't know whether either of them is correct.

Very feminine Elevation Design Dress for Sale - This dress looks and dances fantastic on stage! True Podium Presence. We are sadly selling this beautiful Elevation Design dress since our daughter grew 4 inches over the 3 months right before the Oireachtas! There are hundreds of Swaroski crystals on the dress. The lining is a very shiny, swirly silver and white pattern. Bloomers and a fabric crown are included. There is (of course!) no room to let the dress down, but plenty of room to let it out. The dress is just over 2 years old, and in excellent condition, always stored flat. We don't smoke.

We traveled from Tucson up to SLC for the Wasatch Winter Feis yesterday. The Shelley School did a great job for a first feis! The PC venue was amazing... A full stage with true stage lighting in a beautiful HS auditorium... It was a great warm up for the Worlds.

- The feis was great! Wonderful that it was run in a high school! Auditorium stage for champs and the gym with plenty of bleacher seating for teams and grades. Lots of parking (no charge) and reasonable snacks available. Really well thought out! I actually liked it much better than the hotel venues we've become used to. Wondering if anyone can provide me with some info about Mission Hills, San Diego. Looking to vacation there and wanted to know if it was a nice and safe area to stay in with the family. - Not part of the PNW feis, but our western region feis also combines age groups for PW. I believe the thinking is that in order to be ready for championships, you should be at the top of prizewinner. It is not so hard when there are 5-10 competitors.   - I totally get and appreciate that. I guess it just gets really hard to get all the first places a teacher might require when there are only 8 competitions you can get to in a year. But I also see how the extra time can really prepare you for the next step. I just feel for the dancers getting so many 2nd and 3rds in groups of 25 in every dance (not my dd!).       - Good for you! We've had good experiences (HV in Sept) where the volunteers bent over backward to make sure that all got their awards. Last minute entries caused them to be short. Other feis' (which I won't name) promised trophies and then never sent them. One was for dd's first open champ comp. My feeling is if you don't have the awards then place less kids that way you don't have to lie about sending them out when you know you won't. - They have them at most Costco's you save 20% on when you pay with them as you pay $80 for $100 of certificate. But remember when you check in your cc is debited for your room amount + about an extra $60 at Hyatt. Then you pay for the certificate in advance tying up more money. My daughters cape/shawl came unsnapped from her shoulder while dancing. She didn't miss a beat and finished her dance. The next girl's shoe came off and she stopped. The judge let her go again. My dancer placed 4th and the other took 1st. Judge listed "shawl" in comments, which leads me to believe she deducted points for wardrobe malfunction even though my DD kept going. The point is that on any given day, you can get a judge (or judges) that have an opinion of the dancers that is DIFFERENT than the judges you have danced for previously. - Don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps the other dancers that placed higher than your DD just had a better day? I won't let my DD blame any placing on a wardrobe malfunction. She has to just suck it up and move on to the next competition. No whining from her (she's 17) or she's done dancing...forever. In the old Celtic calendar the 1st of February was the first day of spring and also St. Bridget�s Day. Come celebrate both the Celtic spring and St. Valentine�s Day with a set dancing c�il�! Please join us as we dance away the winter rains!

Set dancing is fun, and easy to learn. For those who are new to this form of dance, beginning steps will be taught from 6:30-7:00 PM and each dance is explained as we go after that. So please come join us as we spin, slide and stomp the night away! Live music will be provided!

Michael Murphy, well-known Bay Area set dance instructor, will be back to teach and call the dances. Adults and teens welcome! No partners or experience necessary. Refreshments will be available.

About how far is the feis venue from the airport? My dancer is a pc u17 dancer-will there be enough in her comp or is the feis willing to combine. Does anyone know what time it is usually over? Any other info I should have?

- "Dance Extreme" is a bonus class that is a small semi private. This class is limited to 4 dancers only and they work with one of the professional instructors. This was new as of last year and the dancers LOVED it. They really broke down the dancer's steps and found lots of great details to work on. It was exhausting, but great. Sign up if you can.
