Subject: What level is she? My daughter started competing at age 5 and always danced against other 5 yr olds. Only had an issue when she moved into Nov. when she was U6 and then sometimes had to dance up to U7.
In reply to: Looking for tips to help 's message, "Please don't bash here, but I am a mother of a December birthday dancer, which means she can be 2 years younger than her competitors. At this age, do you find that the size and the strength of the dancers are totally different, and do you find that the smaller, much younger kids are at a disadvantage? Has anyone experienced this? And did the little ones catch up or is always a huge difference? I know--this will make her a better dancer, and I can't dwell on it. She just has to move out more, jump higher, and this is going to make her incredibly strong. I just want to hear another "success" story" on 10:43:55 10/30/09 Fri

  • my dd is a fall birthday girl too. Started when she was 5. We felt the disadvantage of less maturity at first... but not for long. I felt that by age 10 or 11 it was all equalled out. big diff for 6 year old... it gets less each year. I wouldn't worry about it. She might also look small and cute on stage -- which can be an advantage too. (NT) -- good luck, 11:52:53 10/30/09 Fri
