Subject: I don't think they're a necessity. I have seen young girls with gigantic earrings which look a bit ridiculous to me and I have seen young ones with lovely earrings that complement their outfit. We're no earrings right now, dd's ears got infected so we let the holes close. She wore small earrings a few times but we won't risk the clip ons. Hasn't affected her placement at all - in fact, she is placing better since not wearing earrings but that's due to her dancing not her ear gear or lack thereof.
