    - I agree. I work in medical research & yes, we do conduct preliminary testing on animals before proceeding to human subjects. We go to great pains to limit our studies to an absolute minimum number of animals. I also avoid cosmetics from companies that I feel unnecessarily conduct animal testing. - I'd bring the dress to MAC or the color swatches. have them do STAGE MAKEUP. I recommend Smokey Brown Eyes, with Eyelashes. You want good set make up that doesn't run. I would go to Lancome Defencils for Mascara. If you don't want to spend all the MAC $$$, then by the foundations for Stage Make up and mirror the eyes, lips, cheeks by going to Ulta, Sephora or a Drugstore and buying similar colors. Feile Samhain - I just noticed a Dress Consignment form on feisworx, charging $10 to hang a dress. FOC just did this for free. Will we be able to hang dresses not in the "consignment shop"? I don't have money to pay to hang my dress at a regular feis, and I don't want to bother bringing it on the plane if I can't put it up for sale. -- .., 10:26:31 10/26/09 Mon [43]
In the alternative, might I make a suggestion that you charge the same way a regular consignment shop charges - only if the item sells. I would be willing to pay $20 or even $30 if my dress sells, but I can't put any more money out trying to sell my dress.

- I've been feisin' for a long time and have never been able to put my dress in consignment for free. I think you might have gotten lucky with FOC usually I pay 10.00 a day or 15.00 for 2 day.   - I have been dancing 10 years and you used to always be able to hang you dress for free, but there was no one watching it. I have hung a dress for sale at 4 feiseanna recently and they were all free and unsupervised. Dress didn't sell - times are tough. If I had to pay $10 at every feis, that would be $40. I understand the committee is providing a service, but if I want to take the risk of not having my dress supervised, can I? My concern is where the room is to be located...will it be right next to the competition site to encourage shopping or will it be down the hall and maybe on a different area entirely? - We all know financial times are tough and it is really hard to sell a dress right now. I really think that feiseanna should think carefully about adding additional charges like this consignment shop fee. As it is, this feis is already charging a $20 family fee, which is up $5 from last year. Yes, this fee includes a program, but I don't want a program and I wouldn't have bought one if I wasn't forced in to it with this fee. - Often (at least on the west coast) there is an additional room that has been booked to place the dresses in. All the volunteers that I have interacted with have been great and care is taken with every dress that is checked in. The feis isn't making money off of this service since the hotels are not giving the extra space for free. Having the room is a nice service and does protect the items inside. - We were just at the Portland feis and paid 10.00 a day per dress or 15.00 for two days per dress. Happy to do it, the dress is expensive, didn't sell the dress but glad it was watched over.         Recently had a dress made in Scotland by Tony McGlynn of Celtic Yarns - paid a £150 deposit and the balance when the dress was ready. Beautifully made and excellent customer service. Why do we put up with this nonsense from so called 'BNDM'? DO NOT pay until you know what you are getting! We are almost there! I wanted to give you a couple of updates and reminders:

A program is included in your family registration fee so don’t forget to pick your copy up when you get your dancer’s card. Also, WE ARE INCLUDING A FREE RAFFLE TICKET WITH EVERY PROGRAM!

We will have the expanded re-sale dress area next to the raffle table.

The hotel is offering a 10% discount on purchases made at the gift shop and Starbucks for our group. Just let them know you are with the Irish dance group.

There is a special lunch menu available in the lobby restaurant and bar on Saturday and Sunday.

All special competitions will be awarded on stage on SUNDAY.

The hotel has asked for the dancers to not dance in their hard shoes on the nice, white tile floor (why are the floors always white in hotels?) in the lobby.

Two competitions on Saturday have been split: The 13&O Novice Treble Jig #368 is now split into an U15 and 15&O; and the 13&O Prizewinner Reel #464 is now split into an U15 and 15&O.

There were two competition numbers that I had reversed on the Saturday schedule posted on Feisworx. It should be Comp #752 Open U12 Championship starting at approx 9:00 a.m. and Comp #953 Open U13 Championship starting at approx 2:30.

Are your costumes ready? We will have special treats for everyone that dances in our Costume Special!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the weekend!
