Subject: there are exceptions to every rule and yours would be one of them. I'm talking about the dancers that I've known (all under college age) who think that are above dancing teams. In your case I would ask the TC. If she says that your college-age dd still has to do teams then I would say that is wrong. Within a narrow confine and in you situation only because there are always exceptions to rules.
