I have been there, done that, bought the T-shirt and made a quilt and matching pillow from the shirt when it was worn out.

So, if you have a question that you need an answer for, just ask away. Yeah, I know, everyone else would say, "Ask your teacher." But folks, it's OCTOBER. Pre-O stress abounds. No need induce the look from the teacher that says, "I cannon believe you seriously just asked that stupid question."

Here, there are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers.

And if I don't know the answer, I'll ask my magic 8 ball.

- No I will never hang up my stinky shoes I am here for life because now I am a TCRG. I have stringent requirements if you want to become my pupil (1) You must have transferred schools at least three times (2) You must smell. (3) No deodorant will be worn at any time. (4) I provide the dresses (some of mine) (5) You will use my old wigs as they are all well worn and aged to perfection. And girls, don't forget I will be taking my adjudicators exam this coming year so strive to impress me. HALLOWEEN FEIS INFORMATION

Less than 5 weeks until the Midwest's #1 Fun Feis !! Register NOW for the 3rd annual Halloween Feis to be held October 31st at the MAX McCook facility in McCook, Illinois (suburban Chicago). Make Halloween 2009 the best Halloween yet. Our fun atmosphere is perfect for those first feisers' and beginners while providing top-notch competition for advanced level dancers. For Oireachtas-bound dancers, this is an outstanding opportunity to perform before our esteemed judges and get some feedback 4 weeks before the Oireachtasl.

As in the past, costumes are encouraged for all dance levels. And we will again have our games area to add fun for the whole family. Don't miss registering for the popular costume treble reel, too! IMPORTANT NOTE - We know your Halloween celebrations will continue in the late afternoon and evening, so the cap has been reduced this year to enable us to conclude all competitions by 3:30pm.

At present there are less than 30 places available in the Preliminary and Open Championships. Please sign up in order to secure your spot at the Halloween Feis. The entry date has been extended through October 10, 2009, or until the cap is reached.

  - Its seems at all feis' these days, people wait until the last minute to pay the registration fees. Paid entries should start climbing now since this feis is only 2 weeks away.     - I am sincerely asking this question, (not snarky) why do you think that the feis rate is always less than any other available rate? The feis rate is merely what the hotel agreed to many months before the feis. I wouldn't assume the feis rate is the best possible hotel rate. I've always just seen it as an opportunity for the dancers to run their O dances on a stage, all dressed up, and get feedback from an adjudicator, kind of a dress rehearsal, if you will. I don't see how that would associate you with any other school, and if the TC/AD's want to pool resources to do that together, it seems like that should be fine. My dd is experiencing foot pain constantly in one foot that she sprained a few months ago. The pain gets worse when she dances, of course. Pain is mostly on top of foot, but alittle below the surface. She will see a specialist this week, but he is on the far east side of Denver. Can anyone recommend a specialist that they have used and are pleased with who has a practice on the west side? Thanks so much!

Portland feis - We so appreciate how early the schedule is up! Just looking at it - it seems similar to years past. It seems that there schedule for Sunday plans for it to take about 2 hours for the Nov/PW to get through all their soft & hard shoe dances based on the way they run through them. I have voice my opinion on this in the past, but just have to say it again. It is so hard on these kids to be up on the stage for that long. - They've been running this same kind of schedule for at least the last eight or nine years. It's not been a problem. Most dancers have two dances between rounds - time to catch their breath, have a drink, change shoes.Don't keep your dancer on stage the whole time. Have them return to you. It works. Honest. This schedule also means that the feis can run from 9:00 am (not 8) and be done by 3 (not 5). It's an efficient way to keep the musicians playing and dancers dancing the whole time. - The last time my dd was in the feis, she was up on stage for 2 hours. The stage mgrs told them to not leave the stage between dances. She is all one level and all on the same stage. I told her to leave, but she was afraid to not listen to the stage mgrs. I know it is not the end of the world, but I also don't think it is very healthy on the dancers bodies to stand around and not be warmed up for their dances. I have no problem with being at a feis all day - we have 2 dds and are often there from the earliest time to the end of the day. It is the standing on stage for 2 hours that is the issue. Our dd recently moved into OC. She was thrilled of course as were we. Then, she had her first and second open competitions. I won't say which age group, but let's just say she is over 13. She was soundly beaten and was just knocked over by how good some of the dancers are in her age group. I was told that there are about 5 really top competitors who almost always place when the attend a feis. There is another 4-5 who often place and it is a big group. My dd is working very hard but I wonder if she will ever place again at a feis. Has anyone else faced this? - I suppose the hour depends on traffic but you have O'Conner and Claddagh close and BFOC and Cleary in the back half of your hour time limit. OConner and Claddagh have more than one location, I think in your area. The others only have the one location.
