Subject: All his interests and fascinations could easily send Nicholas into 'the zone,' that place where great minds go to discover and explore and create... It would mean locking out all the others in his life, though, and he feels some sense of responsibility for them. He must have to work really hard to keep his focus with so many other interests vying for his attention.

  • Similar to what Elaine said, I think that Nicholas has the desire to be on his own. However, he knows the importance of the relationships he has and the responsibility to be committed to them.
