  • I felt so sad for Trevor when he learns that he is too late to give her the last miniature. It really bothers me that Mick has become so brutish to Cathy; where did that come from and why? It has me really worried, especially now that she's going to have a baby. Poor, naive dear, thinking the baby will make everything okay between she and Mick. As to your question, I think it's a combination of Irish children almost worshiping their saintly, sacrificing mothers and the whole issue of poverty, as Denise mentioned above. • I go back to Agnes feeling there was something not quite right with Mick, then his father's rigid and controlling behaviour. The warning Mick's mother gave to Cathy on her wedding really got me nervous, though. Sadly enough, many women are abused for the first time either during pregnancy or immediately after giving birth. The theory is that the men don't know how to handle the stress of becoming a parent and hit out at the woman. I think they all need a taste of their own medicine, preferably at the hands of someone twice their size who wants to make them their "girlfriend." (NT) -- Carla, 19:47:45 06/22/09 Mon
