Subject: The Granny: Chapters 25 & 26



Goodbye Agnes Browne

I could have easily rolled these last two chapters into yesterdays post, but I came to love Agnes in this series and felt her passing deserved its own special day.

- The news about Agnes moves quickly through the family and all but two of her living children are at the hospital.

- The doctor's news is grim. I was so impressed with how Pierre was treated at the hospital.

- Cathy gets word to Buster and Buster attempts to tell Dermot about his mother. Unfortunately, Dermot is in a drunken, angry stupor thanks to overhearing Agnes at the pub. After knocking Buster down, Dermot is left to drink and sleep it off.

- Trevor and Maria fly over as soon as they can.

- Dermot wakes up and realizes what's happened, especially the part about sending Cormac over to Buster's place. He apologizes to Cormac and gets the nerve up to visit his Mammy.

- Agnes is on her way to heaven and has a couple of conversations with her best friend Marion. Agnes says she has to wait to go, something's not quite finished. She's obviously waiting for Dermot. Once she sees Dermot and feels his hand in her's she's finally at peace.

- Soon after, surrounded by her whole family, Agnes became a dragonfly.
