Subject: As for his assassination, I remember it sadly. They announced the attempt on his life over the loud speakers at school which contained grades 1-6. From that point, a pall settled on us and the rest of the nation. I remember following the news, watching everything on a grainy B&W TV. Of course, the story was revisited annually so it's hard to know when the events became a part of my history. I just remember the sadness. Then the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King happened so quickly afterwards - or it seemed quickly. It was hard to imagine that much anger and hatred as a child, particularly since I wasn't witnessing it my home. :-(
