Subject: Q1) I'm sure Pamela recognized that she saved his life, she wouldn't have barred his door for fear of what he would do, if she didn't realize the severity of the situation. She may not have known how he truly saw her as a kindred spirit and how under different circumstances (Jamie unmarried, their ages appropriate), they could have been a couple. When Pamela first arrived in Ireland at Jamie's father's funeral, he pretended not to recognize her. I can't remember if he admitted to her that this was a sham, but if not, she might not think her influence at that age was so terribly strong. She was so young, too young for a grown man to love, but her impact was undeniable.,

  • Q2) Nikolai commands respect, and so does the gun he is carrying. I'm sure Nikolai was fed up with Gregor's rule, and Jamie provided the strong arm and guts to fight back. Gregor needed to be put in his place, especially now, since he would eventually follow through on the threat to Jamie's well being. Snuff out the idea, and the sooner the better.
