I'm sure little Fiametta will grow up to be a courtesan. I don't see what other future Fiametta and Bucino could train her to. For me the bigger question is: why did la draga have her daughter go to live with them? Is that that the best future she could envision for her daughter? Is it a sign of love, friendship, respect for Fiametta and Bucino? What other options were possible? -- Shamrocks & Stones

I think it was the best future La Draga could see for her daughter, and yes, I think there was both love and respect between La Draga and the older Fiametta. La Draga also knew that Fiametta and Bucino would never turn out the girl, but care for her as their own, based on the friendship between them and, no doubt, guilt (on Bucino's part).; (NT) -- Denise, 08:14:51 06/04/12 Mon
