At this point in the story it seems that Philippa is ready to be touched again, wants to touch Lymond, but holds back. Is she holding back because she thinks he thinks she's tainted and he doesn't want her anymore? Or is it that she feels he thinks himself guilty over the 'Bailey incident' and won't forgive himself? Or something else? I'm tempted to read through to the end of the book now for answers, if there are any, since I've only been reading a chapter a night to follow along with the discussion and my memory fails me for many details. I think she's still scared of her own reaction, what might happen if she reaches out for him. Poor child was so traumatized by her experience she doesn't know how to begin.   - Yes, definitely, if she touches him and he responds, if one thing were to lead to another, she can't handle anymore than tentative touching, and Lymond seems like he is exercising a control that is almost killing him, at this point.
