Subject: I can definitely see the Olympics similarity. I remember growing up during the Cold War, I was always concerned for the fate of Eastern Block athletes who did not perform up to their country's expectations.

Then when each country's athletes marches in the parade, they have their flag of course but sometimes a traditional piece of clothing like cowboy hats. I'm drawing a blank on details from the opening of the Olympics in China but I think the summer games have more traditional clothing where they're more bundled up in the winter. Back to the story - I thought Katniss' thought process was funny when she meets Cinna and first she thinks "we'll be covered in coal dust", then "we'll be naked AND covered in coal dust" !
