• I have always felt that Lymond teeters between sanity/morality and withdrawing so far into himself that he is willing to cross any boundry to protect himself not just physically (in fact, rarely physically) but mentally and emotionally. It comes out most often as hurtful remarks, but in this case his almost insane need to get back to Russia, to bury himself alive again, causes him to react with unthinking aggression and violence.
