Subject: Ii wonder if her negative reaction to Angus' advances has something to do with the death of Hazel. Marriage=children=potential death. Being pregnant and having babies was a scary proposition for so very long. Even now, there are risks involved, though the odds of a mother's death are greatly reduced with modern medicine.
In reply to: E 's message, "It was definitely childish. I think it was her overreaction to the possibility that someone else was directing her future for her. She is still feeling vulnerable since her uprooting from her home. Not that I condone her behavior, though. I see her as being leery of becoming fully invested in her new life here, as though it, too, could be ripped from her. Maybe that's why she helps with the children - because she still relates to their position in their society, where someone else does all the decision-making and the kids have no say in the matter whatsoever." on 09:08:52 03/08/09 Sun
