Subject: It was such a part of Newfoundland culture for so many years, and for many it meant the first fresh meat they'd had in literally months. The Trinity Sealing Disaster is particularly terrible: the men went onto the floes from the shore, where they'd been blown by a freak wind, many weren't even wearing proper winter coats, etc. The wind suddenly shifted direction and the women stood on shore and watched dozens of their husbands and sons taken out of reach of land.
In reply to: Rebeccab 's message, "The sealing sounded awful and for so little money. I was glad that Josh told the boys straight up what it was like. It is amazing how Ned can keep his spirits up and everyone else's even when he is in the depths of exhaustion." on 15:47:41 03/09/09 Mon
