Hey Everyone -

I think most of you know that I am an active volunteer for the hospice program that Jenna was a part of when she passed and one of the hardest things that I encounter as a volunteer is in addition to having the stress and heartache of having a dying child and knowing that you will soon need to be palnning a funeral form them is when a family also has enormous financial strain.

That is why I am writing to all of you today! I am not one that likes to ask people for things (especially money) as I know a lot of families are just making it by with the economy being in the state that it is currently in but for those who might be able to spare even an extra dollar I ask that you please do so today.

This is Lillian Nannette Martin

and she is currently one of the babies that I am tryng to help that has been on hospice since her birth on April 28, 2008. She was born to Allen and Melissa Martin and about one month before her birth Lilly was diagnosed with severe hydrocephlus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocephlus), so severe that the family was told to prepare for Lilly not to survive past delivery. Devastated, her family sought other medical opinions and came up with a plan for Lilly's parents to provide the best possible care for however long Lilly would be with them.

After over a month stay in the NICU, several surgeries and many set backs, Lilly with no clear diagnosis, was sent home with hospice care. Her head is massive in size and a shunt helps drain the exrta fluid made, into her belly. This shunt requires a neurosurgeon and the family must travel to St. John Hospital in Detroit for Lilly's care. With her many long stays in Detroit, Dad has been unable to work consistently and the price of gasoline makes each vist to see their daughter $50.00 per visit. allen and Melissa have had to use rent and utility money to pay for these trips to Detroit to care for Lilly.

Allen and Melissa understand the poor prognosis of their daughter and are committed to keeping her comfortable. They are expecting unimaginable hearthbreak for little Lilly and unbearbale anxiety over how to continue to manage while they are caring for her.

Lilly and her family could use support from whomever wants to lend a hand. gas card are needed so they can be with Lilly, money is needed to catch up on their rent payments and utilities, and meals are needed for Allen and Melissa and their five-year-old son Collen. Prayers and encouragement will also help this young family while they continue to care for their daughter.

As I already said before I am not one that likes to ask for things but when the volunteer cooridnator asked for my help in fundraising I couldn't say no! If all you can do is forward this on to others that might be able to help that would great and if you could ask them to do the same it would just as great! Even if all you can offer is your thoughts and prayers that better than nothing! Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope this finds everyone in good health!

Have a great day!
Michelle

Hi everyone! Just a quick report on Heidi's week so far at the Mrs. United States Pageant.

She had her interview last night and was very pleased with how it went. She is having the time of her life and is just ranting about the incredible caliber of the delegates, the laid back atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie, and the professionalism of the national pageant staff. Heidi wants everyone at home to know she so appreciates your support this week.

Here are just a few of the many photos taken during the Third Friday Festival appearance in Wyandotte, Michigan by the 2008 Mrs. Michigan United States Pageant delegates! Enjoy!

Traveling in style in the "MRSMICH" mobile!

The delegates created quite a stir and turned many heads in beautiful downtown Wyandotte!

It was a Ladies' Night!

The ladies posed with Harleys outside The Grind Coffeehouse ...

They walked the red carpet runway at the Bella Donna Boutique ...

And sampled wine and cheese at the Willow Tree!

They enjoyed the Biddle Avenue trolley ...

The horse-drawn carriage rides ...

They channeled Marilyn (the old girl needs to step aside for our A-listers!) ...

And posed for photographers!

But most of all, they wowed and inspired the crowd while appearing on the Elm Street Stage.

It was a day to remember for all!

Every Child A Cure T-Shirt

The Every Child A Cure T-Shirt has been created to raise awareness and monies for the Rubinstein-Taybi Family Research Fund. It is available thru Cafe Press and all profits will go directly to the fund. It's been a real family project with input from everyone!
We hope you'll join us in this effort; buy it -- wear it -- and send us a pic! -- and be a part of our online "Every Child A Cure" family photo gallery. (type "everychildpic" in the subject line of everychild@stephanie-hunt.com)

DONNIE!

"Matthew (uncle) did the picture mostly. I did the letters. Mom said it needed to be something people would like to wear. We asked what made Donnie like this and she talked about DNA and stuff so we thought why not make a strand. We helped Donnie color it in. Mom said how funny it was because that's what's wrong. Something went wrong in his DNA. He kept coloring outside the lines."

Accepting 2007 Best of Nominations

It's time once again to rehash the Best of 2007!

TFTJ is going to rehash that year in pageantry one more time, with a set of 'BEST OF' polls and features in the following areas. Nominations are open to any pageant system and any level in that system.

This year we've created some nomination forms to make the process run smoother, and hopefully faster! For the competition awards, a poll will follow after the nomintion process ends. So, only one entry with picture is necessary to be included in the process.

For the Overall Contestant and the 'Off-Stage' Awards, nominations with detailed and specific testimonials/endorsements are used to determine the final winners. The winners are not often the most nominated person, but rather those with the most compelling praise from their nominators.

Please submit to your nominations to the Best Of Forms. Entries submited via our email WILL NOT COUNT.

Deadline to submit entries is February 22, 2007.

The Direct link to the nomination form is: Vote: TFTJ Best Of 2007.

What the naysayers don't understand about pageants is how they inspire women to achieve their personal best. Pageants encourage volunteerism and leadership. These attributes among women serve to further a strong society. Women are the backbones of society. As we strive and achieve our personal bests, we inspire our children and others to do better too. I for one am reaching for the stars and ecstatic to have the chance to inspire others.

Hello everyone! I have recently created a website designed for the pageant contestant that is looking for fine apparel at an affordable price. It is called www.CrownsNThings.com. I am more than willing to work with everyone from the experienced to the novice. I completely understand how expensive this endeavor of ours can be, so my ulitmate goal is to offer high quality merchandise at a reasonable price. For example, we all know that many times we spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars on gowns, to only use them once! Why not purchase one that has been gently used once for much less and have a high quality gown to use in your next competition. I have started off with a small amount of items that I have in my closet but I will be adding more during the week. Currently, I have cocktail dresses, evening wear, swimwear, interview suits, appearance outfits, and heels. In the future I would like to offer my website to all to resale their items, but for now I am just trying to clear out my closet. Thank you for all your support in advance!!

Hi, Kristina! I am (soon to be) training with Erik Ledin, and he mentioned you might be interested in doing the Figure Competition in Flint, MI that I and some others from his board are doing. If you think you would be interested in carpooling up to Flint for a posing clinic, just let me know. I live in Ravenna (in the middle of nowhere between GR and Muskegon).

BTW, you look outstanding!

Thanks for the autographed photo! You are one of my role-models because you give everything your best shot and nothing less. What was it like to be crowned Mrs. Michigan 2006? What were you thinking? How did you get into pageants? Did you wanna compete when you were little? What cool people have you worked with? I was wondering since you are my idol and have an impact on my life.

Don't assume that everyone is your friend during pageant week … someone will surely turn.

That a great interview today will be old tomorrow.

There are genuine contestants … the rest are just clawing for the crown.

Kissing the director's butt does nothing but give you chapped lips.

Listening to the nasty comments people make is degrading and they are just jealous of you anyway.

That duct tape has more than 1,000 uses … and that's just for boobs!

There is a system for everyone out there, but everyone out there isn't for every system.

Beauty isn't always obvious.

The women you stand next to on stage all have a story, but who "sells" it better is key.

It's neither the gown nor the body, but the heart and soul that matter. Unfortunately, many forget that.

That my big 1980s earrings still go with most of my pageant clothes.

It's normal during pageant week to change clothes three or four times a day, but when you are home, one set does just fine!

That a French manicure is status quo but super long nails are a big no-no.

That a platform is sometimes just a bunch of fluff and sometimes it teaches us really cool stuff.

It's okay to spend thousands on a gown/suit and then shop the sales for the rest.

Only one will win a crown in the end, but many will have personal victories that need no crown.

Kristina, just a note to let you know that you were AMAZING at nationals. You looked incredible and spoke with confidence and professionalism. Your state costume was HOT and swimsuit and evening gown presentation top notch. Your workouts definitely paid off because your muscle tone and symmetry were simply outstanding.

You can be VERY pleased with your work. All of Michigan is extremenly proud of your stellar performance and decorum under extremely difficult circumstances. You could not have done better and we are extremely fortunate to have you represent us. This poem definitely applies to you! Much love from your many fans!!!!!!!!!!

The Winning Crown

It's not the title, nor the crown that counts.
It's not the weight that's lost that really amounts.
It's not the makeup design, or the gown that you wear.
Or the shape of your build or the length of your hair.
You see, the growth of a Queen is all done inside.
Its nothing support hose or makeup can hide
The real preparation is done in the mind.
It’s leaving your fears and your faults behind.
It’s lifting your soul to a place that’s far seen.
It’s molding a woman to the height of a Queen.
It’s hard and its work, its not easily done.
But when it is over, you’ll know who has won.
When the pageant is through and the lights are turned down,
You’ll know you’re a winner and you’ll have your crown.
You see, all crowns are different.it’s really an art.
Yours can be rhinestones or the growth of the heart!

All of the contestants are extraordinary. In my opinion Mrs. Michigan - Kristina Scarcelli - is a shining star. She has been an exceptional Mrs. Michigan. She has donated her talent and time across the state at charitable and memorial events. She has been enthusiastic and energetic in promoting the Mrs. United States Pageant system at grand openings and by singing the National Anthem before large audiences at Professional Basketball games in Detroit. Her image as a role model for the youth of the State of Michigan has been impeccable. She has received Mayoral Citations and Commendations from Managers of charitable events for her maximum effort on their behalf. Her talented performances are awe inspiring. Using her wit, charm, grace, talent and beauty she has touched so many in the State of Michigan. Kristina Scarcelli, Mrs. Michigan United States 2006 - is an outstanding contestant for the title of Mrs. United States. We all wish her well!

My name is Weng Chenhao, and I'm from China.

Everyone love beauty. Just 1,000 people have 1,000 Hamlets, I believe in 1,000 people eyes, there also will be 1,000 images of beauty! The Mrs. Michigan competition is just a reflection to give people justify and appreciate beautiful women.

On my view, apart from the appearance, the winner should also show her inner world to the society, including helping those disable people and devoting to the charity actions. I charish and savor such beauty! And I believe that's really the true beauty!

Wish the competition better and better, and introduce Michigan to the whole world!

P.S. I want to get an autographed card of Mrs. Michigan 2006. Thank you!

Yours,

Weng Chenhao
