Hey Everyone -

I think most of you know that I am an active volunteer for the hospice program that Jenna was a part of when she passed and one of the hardest things that I encounter as a volunteer is in addition to having the stress and heartache of having a dying child and knowing that you will soon need to be palnning a funeral form them is when a family also has enormous financial strain.

That is why I am writing to all of you today! I am not one that likes to ask people for things (especially money) as I know a lot of families are just making it by with the economy being in the state that it is currently in but for those who might be able to spare even an extra dollar I ask that you please do so today.

This is Lillian Nannette Martin

and she is currently one of the babies that I am tryng to help that has been on hospice since her birth on April 28, 2008. She was born to Allen and Melissa Martin and about one month before her birth Lilly was diagnosed with severe hydrocephlus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocephlus), so severe that the family was told to prepare for Lilly not to survive past delivery. Devastated, her family sought other medical opinions and came up with a plan for Lilly's parents to provide the best possible care for however long Lilly would be with them.

After over a month stay in the NICU, several surgeries and many set backs, Lilly with no clear diagnosis, was sent home with hospice care. Her head is massive in size and a shunt helps drain the exrta fluid made, into her belly. This shunt requires a neurosurgeon and the family must travel to St. John Hospital in Detroit for Lilly's care. With her many long stays in Detroit, Dad has been unable to work consistently and the price of gasoline makes each vist to see their daughter $50.00 per visit. allen and Melissa have had to use rent and utility money to pay for these trips to Detroit to care for Lilly.

Allen and Melissa understand the poor prognosis of their daughter and are committed to keeping her comfortable. They are expecting unimaginable hearthbreak for little Lilly and unbearbale anxiety over how to continue to manage while they are caring for her.

Lilly and her family could use support from whomever wants to lend a hand. gas card are needed so they can be with Lilly, money is needed to catch up on their rent payments and utilities, and meals are needed for Allen and Melissa and their five-year-old son Collen. Prayers and encouragement will also help this young family while they continue to care for their daughter.

As I already said before I am not one that likes to ask for things but when the volunteer cooridnator asked for my help in fundraising I couldn't say no! If all you can do is forward this on to others that might be able to help that would great and if you could ask them to do the same it would just as great! Even if all you can offer is your thoughts and prayers that better than nothing! Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope this finds everyone in good health!

Have a great day!
Michelle

Thanks to Jody and Stephanie for your donations. The family really needs all the support they can get and I appreciate you coming through for them! I gave them a gift certificate as well and I know they will be so happy to receive anything. Thanks again.

Michelle
