A bit of info from this morning's NY Times to which the words "ironical," "paradoxical" and "anomalous" can be applied: "China: Estimates of Millionaires Grows."
"China has 825,000 people with worth of 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) and many have not been affected by the financial crisis, according to research from Hurun Report, which compiles a list of China's richest people. The country's millionaires average 39 years of age, and 48% are concentrated in Beijing, Shanghai and the southern province of Guandong.* As many as 51,000 people have more than 100 million yuan ($14.7million) in personal wealth."

*Guandong is a province with a high concentration of US corporate investment and consumer goods manufacturing, much of it destined for the US.
