Subject: Kumayakies

Species Name - Kumayaki, or "Aya" for short.

Physical Description - Basically a long-limbed, lithe saberfanged cat. Their heads are essentially canine, with a sturdy muzzle sporting a pair of saberfangs. These fangs are by default the same length as their muzzle from nosetip to the point where it meets the rest of the skull between the eyes. Speaking of which, their eyes are almond-shaped and very expressive, their brows capable of moving independently of the other to allow for a greater range of emotion. Their ears are a shape somewhat like a mix of lupine, equine, and lapine, though they can vary by individual but are in general slim and tapered. Their head attaches to a sturdy neck which flows into a set of strong shoulders. Their torso/body shape is elongated in a feline way, though their limbs are more canine. They have four toes on each felinesque paw, with a fifth toe on each foreleg positioned like a dewclaw. Sharp, curved, and retractible talons can be fully sheathed on each toe, though keep in mind all this is subject to the individual. Their genetalia are canine, and their tails are long, slender, and lion-like in that they have a tuft of longer fur at the end. This “fifth limb” is quite long and usually are as long as the body from chest to rump.
Kumayakies have unique ‘manes’ in that they begin at a midway point down the neck and run to mid-back. These manes are long and narrow- they don’t normally grow wider than the shoulders- and the hair shafts are quite lengthy and stiff. Ayas have the ability to raise or lower their mane in the way a bird’s feather crest might.

But this is not all.

When angry, Ayas’ eyes glow red. And when provoked to extreme levels, they have a series of four progressively larger forms called ‘anger stages’ (the default body for a calm aya is technically the first anger stage for a total of five stages altogether, but this is generally disregarded and the second stage called as the first). An aya transforming into one of these stages- they must come in order, there’s no skipping from one to the next- glows blindingly white while the change is taking place. The process takes from one to three minutes, during which time all previously-existing wounds are healed.
Each anger stage is progressively larger, stronger, and once the third stage (counting the default form- and I’ll do so henceforth) is reached the levels past it correspond to a different element. This will go into more detail on the Complete Kumayaki Information Database (tm) linked to below.

Oh yeah, and I forgot. There’s several subspecies (including were-ayas; ayas with the ability to shift in and out of a bipedal version of their quadrupedal bodies) that will be covered on the Info Page.

Temperament – Temperament varies from individual to individual. However, as a whole, in general, and as default, NO Kumayaki ever feels fear. Those who do are considered weak, incapable, and something to be spit at. Needless to say, most individuals who feel fear do their best to hide it- but their ability to do so depends on their strength of constitution.

Most Ayas are very, very intelligent. I say most because, as usual, there can be complete idiots in the gene pool.

Culture / Technology / History –

Culture: Depending on temperament and how they were raised, Ayas can live in social clusters called prides, solitary lives, or in small family groups. Prides have one to two leaders and up to three sub-leaders. Family groups are governed by seniority/ability.

Tech: Since Ayas don’t really have any hands, and as such anything to do with the development or construction of something technologically-complex falls upon their were-aya bretheren or any other willing species able to lend a hand. Were-ayas are quite advanced in technology though a good portion of them live in primitive tribes, and a large portion of the Anyanan Force’s air- and space-craft pilots are were-ayas.
Many Kumayakies have the ability to telepath, fewer have the ability to call portals, and even fewer- only a handful of the population- can read minds.

History: Ayas, like a large portion of the Anyanan population, are products of the Founders- four humans with technology so advanced they are able to create new life forms. Ayas were one of their first projects, and after the humans’ exodus from Earth to Anyana, the Founders created Kumayaki forms for themselves so they could roam about Anyana in peace and in control. They are still able to switch between human and aya at ease, and they have were-aya forms as well. Very, very few know the identity of the Founders… only a handful actually know their names, much less have seen/talked with them personally… for the Founders’ protection.
