Subject: I think it would be a shame to not finish the series, Susie, but obviously that's up to you. Maybe give yourself a couple of months and see if you feel like finishing them out then. No, Gelis is not likeable really, but she gets better, at least IMHO>>>>
In reply to: susiej 's message, "Finished Lions last night and don't even want to read the next 2 books. Just have no motivation to go to the downtown library and get them. Reason why in first reply." on 06:58:47 03/03/09 Tue

I have always said Nicholas has two great loves, Gelis is the love of his heart and body, Kathi of his soul and mind. Nicholas is extremely complex, and so are his loves. Gelis hates him because she blames him for her sister's death, feeling Katelina would not have been where she was when she died, had she not loved Nicholas.

Gelis is not Philippa, but it wouldn't be interesting if she was. I think Nicholas is a far more ruthless man than
Francis is. Nicholas really did manipulate events in Scotland, so that he could ruin the economy, bring down the banks etc.

All that being said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on these books, and I doubt, at this point, that anything I say will really change how you feel. Therefore I won't blather on about it too much. Just know that the two series do fit together very nicely, which you won't get to see if you don't finish. :)
