The Best Deal I've ever come across was
a "Lot" of Ammo for Forty Bucks.

It consisted of Two Heavy Plastic Totes

The same auction house is having a sale

Student Suspended for Carrying Atlatl -- Pyrite, 11:07:22 10/14/09 Wed [1]

3 yr. old Buford Grit was suspended from his school this morning as a result of his violation of the zero tolerance policy of Joan Baez Preschool.
It was actually a soup ladle that he brought from home to play drums on a fellow student's head, but the security council of the institution decided it looked enough like a deadly atlatl (an aboriginal spear chucker) to trigger the suspension.
Deliberations are ongoing as there are factors in the community who consider any adverse action against spear chuckers to be culturally exclusionary.

ECB-Gold reserves drop by 2 mln euros in week
FRANKFURT, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Gold and gold receivables held by euro zone central banks fell by 2 million euros to 238.2 billion euros in the week ending October 9, the European Central Bank said on Tuesday.

Net foreign exchange reserves in the Eurosystem of central banks fell by 4.1 billion euros to 179 billion euros, the ECB said in its regular weekly consolidated financial statement.

Gold holdings fell because of the sale of gold by one euro zone central bank. The ECB said the move was consistent with the 2009 Central Bank Gold Agreement.

Hey, look, there's hope springing up now and then, even if it's only worth a chuckle. I know the
Vermont winters can't be any worse than what we've got here.

> Finally .... A Sensible Gun Registration Plan That Will Work
>
> Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the U.S.
> Constitution, as well as Vermont 's own Constitution very carefully, and
> his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in
> New
> England and elsewhere.
>
> Maslack recently proposed a bill to register "non-gun-owners" and require

assess
> a
> fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun
>
> Maslack read the "militia" phrase of the Second Amendment as not only
> affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a
clear
> mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated
> by
> the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a "monopoly of force"

"...the punchline? Who is going to fill up Hardin's empty prison?"

More like, who's going to take it over? There's
not ANY wasted prison space in the US these days.
Private prisons are big biz these days. CCA has
one right outside Beattyville, where Cobb'er was
born. The town's biggest employer, far ahead of
the regional jail (publicly-owned) which is high
up there (not many jobs). It's a disaster. They
ship in inmates from Vermont! Riots, you name it.

A client's wife is a retired high-up muckety-muck
(ass't superintendant) for KY state prison systems
and we were talking one day and I asked her about
private prisons. The subject only raised her ire.
She thinks the whole system is FUBAR'ed, and she
was an insider.

APF is just a wannabe Wackenhut or CCA, imho. And
it doesn't seem like who's in office, GOP or Dems.
I never thought I'd be happy to quote George C. Wallace,
but "there ain't a dime's worth of difference between
the Democrats and the Republicans."

Swiss ammo -- moonshot -- Submariner, 15:42:12 10/02/09 Fri [1]

Swiss Murder By Recruit-28 NOV 2007

A 16-year-old girl was shot dead from distance in Zürich, Switzerland on Friday night. The victim was waiting with her companion at a bus stop in Zürich at 10 p.m. CET, next to the Hönggerberg campus of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, a technical university. The shooter, a conscript in the Swiss Armed Forces, used his army-issued assault rifle to shoot the victim at a distance of 60-100 metres. With a gunshot wound in her upper body, the girl died in the arms of her companion before the medical help could arrive.

"Yes, it was me who was shooting," confirmed the 21-years-old Swiss recruit of Chilean ancestry, who had just finished his training at recruit school on the same day. He did not know his victim, who was a 16-year-old hairdresser apprentice. The state attorney assumes that the shooter has picked his victim randomly. The motive of the crime is not known at the moment.

There is an ongoing domestic debate whether soldiers should continue to keep their firearms at home. According to a study by Martin Killias, a criminologist at the School of Forensic Sciences and Criminology in Lausanne, army-issued firearms are responsible for 300 deaths annually in Switzerland and two-thirds of suicides-by-firearm are committed with army-issued firearms.

Every soldier equipped with the SIG SG 550 assault rifle is issued 50 rounds of ammunition in a sealed box, to be opened only upon alert. Any other use, or even unsealing the box, is strictly forbidden. The killer used ammunition from a different source.

I hope it's just coincidence with the vaccine coming up but it smells fishy to me. Swiss are at the forefront of saying no to the vaccine. What happens there will set the precedence for the rest of us. Unless the Aussies start dropping like flies.

Looks like Cali residents won't be able to buy ammo on-line beginning next month if Arnold doesn't veto the bill. Face to face purchases only, ID and thumb print, records held for 5 years, no private sales.

And then there's Hardin with the APF. Read an article this morning that denied everything other than the existence of APF and that they had Hardin Police decals on their vehicles for a few days.

I think the propaganda machine is cranking up. It would make perfect sense for TPTB to plant some outrageous reports on the net to discredit watchdogs spreading the word.

Too many pieces of the puzzle are falling into place to deny something wicked is coming.

US Car Sales after "Cash 4 Clunkers" ends -- Delta-au, 16:56:30 10/01/09 Thu [1]

Ford -5% .... GM -45% .... Chrysler -42% .... Toyota -13%
Hyundai +24% .... VW +2% .... Porsche +4%

Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and Ford Motor Co. said sales fell in September as waning demand after the “cash for clunkers” rebates cut industry deliveries to the second-slowest rate this year.

GM deliveries tumbled 45 percent, while Toyota dropped 13 percent, both worse than analysts had estimated. Ford slid 5.1 percent, and Chrysler Group LLC, Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. also posted declines.

“We knew sales would slow down significantly after the cash for clunkers surge,” said Stephen Spivey, senior auto analyst at Frost & Sullivan in San Antonio. “October will tell you what kind of rebound comes off that dip.”

U.S. auto sales plunged 23 percent, and the seasonally adjusted annual sales rate fell to 9.22 million units, said industry researcher Autodata Corp. of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. July and August were the only months in 2009 when the sales pace topped 10 million, a level that Ford and researcher J.D. Power & Associates expect the U.S. to surpass for the year.

The industry is coming off an August surge that snapped a streak of monthly sales declines dating to 2007. Buyers responded to the U.S. government’s offer of as much as $4,500 to trade in older, less fuel-efficient light vehicles from July 27 through Aug. 24, with almost 700,000 purchases.

Always invest with the primary trend. Gold's
primary trend is up, targeting at least $3,130.00; silver's primary is up
targeting 16:1 gold/silver ratio or $195.66; stocks' primary trend is down,
targeting Dow under 2,900 and worth only one ounce of gold; US$ or US$-denominated
assets, primary trend down; real estate bubble has burst, primary trend down.

Anti-Gun Politician Defends His Life … With a Gun
Posted by Karen De Coster on September 29, 2009 08:17 AM

When people still refuse to see the truth behind the politics, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, I direct them to a story like this. Ask yourself why North Carolina state senator R.C. Soles advocated gun control for the populace, but kept guns for his own personal protection. In August, he shot one of two intruders in his home. The fact that he actually hit one of them means he had decent gun control. The story didn’t surface anywhere, and in fact, the original story used the terminology, “Long-time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles…” That terminology has since been removed from all stories that I can find. Everything I can find on the web refers to this guy as a big-time anti-gun guy. Soles has many allegations against him, and these two intruders are alleged to be his “clients,” whatever that means.
