Subject: I'm with you on the doubts, and it isn't the first time. There seems to be less emphasis on court procedure and evidence than we saw in JAG. I keep watching, hoping to get more about JC, but it's getting harder to wade through the rest of the show. Does this show do only murders? One thing I liked about JAG was that they had other crimes, too, and even some shows without crimes. Oh, well, I guess I'm just showing how I'm missing JAG...

I've forgotten how many legal dramas I've read/seen where there's a quote by Oliver Wendell Holmes (only one of our greatest Supreme Court Justices--served in the Civil War and, I forget which president--was appointed to the Supreme Court) that's used time and time again: "This is a court of law, not justice."

At the risk of sounding just a bit "pompus"--and at least like a college prof, justice is an after effect of the process in the judicial system--which is why the "technicalities" that drive a lot of people rather batty is so important. There are some real life cases where all the evidence is extremely circumstantial, where there's never a confession, etc. And that's one of the flaws in our particular legal system, too--the skill of the attorneys is often times what determines the outcome. Which is why I personally have such a problem with the public funding--or lack thereof--of the Legal Services for the Poor--and the Public Defenders' office(s). And I'm not going to get started on THAT!!

So even tho' the episode was Jimmy lite tonight, it was still worth watching. -- mkim I got a kick out of Ed charming that nurse.(I know it almost blew the case, but he was cute), 14:34:46 02/17/07 Sat [1]

But the idealist in my just wants to know that the truth has prevailed and justice has been served in the end. I usually get that satisfaction, but there have been a couple of eps where I just wasn't sure at the end. -- JJ (Ronda), 17:42:09 02/17/07 Sat [1]
