Subject: Well, ladies, I've read all the comments and I'll throw in my own. To begin with, Sue did have a divorce and Rick lost his family, too. Sue Silverman answered a number of your questions at the DJE Board and quite well, IMVHO. I liked that DJE took the role. This was not stupid as TSII.. He played a character with an addiction also and Rick has not changed. Some of you are condemning SS for her addiction. No, not all abused women go this route, but SHE did, (inside)
In reply to: fananicfan 's message, "I'm not sure I can verbalize my thoughts on the movie. I'm willing to believe in sex addiction as a mental state, and I liked seeing the hunk we know as DJE, but I have other problems with the movie...inside 'cause I'm going to be over..." on 15:35:12 04/20/08 Sun

so who are we to judge her. DJE has to branch out and obviously it won't be with CB at this time. This is something WE have to accept. What I think is interesting is that CB did a Sci-fi, which DJE is going to do. She did Still Small Voices, he did this movie and CB is now in a series. Might this be the route DJE is trying to take? I'm glad to see him act, since it's been mighty dry since JAG. I think we need to give him credit for any role he plays and stop taking the topic apart. Now throw the bananas at me LOL, but I just had to voice my opinion.

I heard an actress in an interview once say that the script she read was one thing, but after the changes to the script during production her character was different. She said she wouldn't have done the role if she'd have known that her character was going to be shown to be like that.

I wonder if something like that happened to him or maybe he read the script and said, this is the role where I can show Hollywood age is just a number and I'm still hot.

He can pick any project he wants to do. I watched this one and I'm sure if its available in my area, I'll watch the next one.

I wasn't trying to be judgemental or say he could only act with CB or anything. I'm just curious as to why he chose this part.

[> [> [> [> This may make it clearer. DJE usually picks roles that are three dimensional and require him to use a range of emotions. This character did not do that and that's the reason why I wonder about his choice. -- fananicfan, 18:12:03 04/20/08 Sun [1]

[> [> [> Not agreeing or disagreeing with comments made about the movie, but isn't it important to his career that DJE vary the types of roles he plays so he does not become sterotyped? We all loved Harm and Jimmy, but now DJE has to move on with his career and some of the characters he plays may not be the type of person we like, but as long as he protrays the character well, he's been successful. Just my opinion. -- ED, 18:23:13 04/20/08 Sun [1]

He usually takes on more family friendly roles or at least roles that are more multi layered. Not saying he shouldn't balance his career or do whatever he just plain feels like doing. I don't think any less of him for taking the part, but if I had the chance to interview him someday I'd pose the question to him, "Why did you take the role of Rick in Love Sick," out of my own personal curiousity.

[> [> [> JMO, but DJE probably saw the role as a challenge. He is great in the Harm and the Jimmy style role, both wonderful three dimensional emotional characters, h/e this part was more one dimensional with a display of unhealthy emotions. In lots of ways that is the more difficult role to play. I love to see him in the family friendly roles, but he flexed his acting muscles a little bit (and his real muscles alot thank goodness). It was interesting to see. Looking forward to his next part which sounds like a return to the three dimensional good guy. Can't wait! -- Dani R, 16:46:52 04/21/08 Mon [1]
