I respect your opinion and I would never ask you to change your mind about the way you feel. I do think that while David might have some small knowledge of the effect his performance as Harm has had on some people, from what I've read about him over the years, it would probably make him feel uncomfortable because it doesn't mean the same thing to him as it does to those who put him up on that pedestal. That's the difference - he has no emotional attachment to Harm other than the fact that he played the part for 10 years, and that detachment allows him to take on a role such as General Braxton, because to him it's just a role and a way to show his range in another way. That's just my opinion.

Dani,

I was glad to get your 2 cents.(smile) I probably over reacted, I think I should wait at least an hour before I react to something on the board. Not because I think I'm wrong, but because I'm opening up discussion that can cause arguments and hurt feelings. I do hear what you're saying about how Harm felt about his role, but I still don think he gets what it all meant. I can understand he doesn't want to be typecast, but is it so bad to be typecast as strong honorable man, not perfect but who lives his values. I know in many movies and TV, there the heroes are more anti heroes, but you know, I'm just over that. The man has to make a living, and I cant expect him to feel the way I do about the uniform of this country, I hope he is a nice guy, you seem to know things like that about him for certain. I hope you are right and I wish him well, I really do, but after this, I hope he gives it a rest. Jimmy Conlon an Terry Evanshen and the character he portrays on Impact are people I can get behind and I'm just someone who needs to do that to follow an actors career.

And while I'm being totally candid, I know my own back ground has alot to do with how I feel and none of that is DJE's problem. My brother did a tour in Vietnam when I was about 9 years old, his treatment when he came home was horrendous. He was mocked and spat on at O'Hare airport..the whole nine, he had a tough time, but he has healed. He's the cha plain for Howard County Vietnam vets, here in Indiana. He counsels alot of returning troops Afghanistan and Iraq, too. He regularly volunteers and organizes events for the men and women at the VA hospital in Marion. (Another reason I totally loved 'Harm' as a character, his Vietnam connection with Harm Sr..) My DH bring retired Navy has alot to do with things and then my son's service on top of all that. (I'm kind of covered up here.)

Yes, DJE does alot for the uniform and to say he is easy on the eyes is an understatement.(I wonder if he ever gets tired of being pretty?smirk) Though I think his Navy uniform is better on him than the Army one, but that's just me.(smile)

I remember Harrison Ford's What Lies Beneath, it was an excellent movie and I was a fan of HF at that time, but this departure didn't upset me. Even though Jack Ryan was endearing as the good guy, in all the Tom Clancy story based movies. Although, I think it all went to his head in the end, IMHO.

[> [> [> [> [> I have kids who are entering the entertaiment business and I understand the process of "getting" cast. A person has to go with the jobs they are seeking. I can see DJE wanting to break the good guy mold once in a bit. He has to adventure into new territory as an actor or stimy himself into a few parts. I wouldnt have understood this a couple of years ago, but I do now. -- Trish...Harm will forever live in OUR hearts. DJE is just an acotr doing his job., 19:47:44 05/01/09 Fri [1]
