IDK. Unless you're completely dedicated and self motivated, I think that taking a year or two off can hinder a girl. Once these girls are in the swing of things they just keep that momentum going. They feel the pressure to kick their work outs up a notch and to perfect their art/talent. They stay informed about the world around them, and active in their philanthropy. Girls can grow and mature as titleholders a lot quicker than as an everyday girl. I've never been a fan of the "take a year off to mature" philosophy. Because most of them take a year off to work on another aspect of their lives--which can, but does not always translate well to pageant competition.
