To speak for my daughter, the rules for the MAO program are VERY clear!! Girls are actually able to simultaneously compete in the state they are from, and the state they go to school at and once they win a local title, they then compete for that state title...Maddie Tres as example...and the Miss OR board just sent us the approval for her to do so directly from the national office. So before you all go acting like experts, get your facts straight from the National source!!

So this year she chooses WA so many next year she chooses OR. Just doesn't look great on a bio for the judges hopping around.

You are partially correct - they cannot compete in two STATES the same year, but they can compete in locals of all states of eligibility until/if they win a local, then they compete just at that states local....we did "check into that" and this clarification comes straight from the National Office. And I would HARDLY consider competing where you go to school "state hoping" and many girls such as the Renards, Lauren Kuhn, etc. have competed where they go to school rather than their home town - not a big deal, it's easier to provide a year of service to the community you presently live in vs. commuting every weekend to do so. Judges understand that some kids move to other states to go to school and girls choose to compete when and where it works best for them...commuting was too tough so Gabby has opted to compete in OR locals for the balance of this year. Thanks for your concern!
