I think that many can be considered more competitive because of prizes (Tri Cities gives $12,000 to winner) and location (Seattle) and time in season (sweeper). I also think it has to do with the average number of competitors in each local. Of course, sweepers, Seattle, Tri Cities, and probably Auburn and Pierce are going to have more contestants because they are centralized pageants, versus ones like Whatcom and Lewis that are in areas that don't normally have big pageant demands. Overall, I think each of the locals in WA are considered equal as far as support for their titleholders during their year, which is the most important thing. Surprised that Seattle does not have more contestants. Seems would be larger and always giving away 2 or 3 titles since it is such a large city in my opinion [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Seattle, Auburn, East King County are just a few, not to mention the ability for contestants to compete in Apple Valley, Sweeper, and the open pageant. I would love for the contestant numbers to go from 21 to maybe up to 30 in the coming years to give more girls the opportunity to compete at state. Most open titles would be great. Because of where I live, I can only compete in West Sound and Pierce County because I go to school in Pierce. Then I can do Apple Valley, open, and sweeper. Having more open pageants would be great for those of us that don't have a lot of options as far as locals. Especially the girls that live all the way in Whatcom where that's all they can get. Too bad more titles can't be given. Would love for every 4 or 5 girls that compete in Washington to get a title so more ladies can go to miss WA but seems funding would not allow for this [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

It always used to be considered one of the bigger pageants... But it has gotten smaller over the past few years. I worked with Team Seattle from 2008-2014 and our contestant numbers were always over 15 girls, which enabled us to give away multiple titles for a couple of years (Miss Emerald City). And during our big years, we always talked about giving away more than one crown. > > >Surprised that Seattle does not have more contestants. >Seems would be larger and always giving away 2 or 3 >titles since it is such a large city in my opinion [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
