There will be a tent with a table located on the right side of the arena. Please stop at this tent to get your stall assignment and your hook up.

All hook ups will be based on first come first serve basis. We will do our best to accommodate all as best we can. Ocala has added some hook ups but we still may not have enough for everyone. So please be prepared for that. Also, some of the electrical connections require a long cord.

In just a little over a week we will be assembling for the final time this rodeo season at what I consider the best rodeo association finals in Florida.

Please remember to arrive as early as possible on Friday so we can get you parked safely and your horses stalled in your pre selected spots.

Upon arrival please off load your horses immediatly and proceed to the tented area outside the barn where a table will be set which will give your stall and parking assignments. Please move your rig out of the barn area and park it in the assigned location immediatly as there will be alot of traffic.

Registration will start at noon in the show office (center baarn) where you will pay your fees, recieve your finals back number and goodie bag. Please do not wait until the last minute to register as it is important that we get the Friday night performance started promptly at 5pm.

Good luck to everyone and please if you have any questions do not hesitate to email me at pciaccio@saddlebrook.com

Finals are just 2 weeks away - what an exciting time!
Please let me know of any auction items you've accumulated so we can make a list to distribute. The auction will be live during performances 1 and 2 between events. We may need a few volunteers to help. Don't forget those Mardi Gras decorations. We'll also have a stall decoration contest, and don't forget the Queen/Princess Contest Saturday morning.

We are working to finalize the finalist list. Ms. Joy and Ms. Jennifer have worked very hard and changed this list many times this week. The list will be finalized this evening and NO CHANGES will be made. If you have told us you are not coming, and changed your mind, you will not be allowed to attend. If you signed up to come and decide you are not coming FEES WILL BE DUE regardless.

We are at the point where we need to place orders and make final plans. We cannot do this and continue to change the list.

So I do apologize for any kids who have been affected by these changes. In the future all DUE DATES MUST BE HONORED - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Thank you all for understanding the circumstances.

The board met Thursday evenng on two key issues and I will speak to the slack event in this post. I hope that all SJRA members join us at finals. We will have a Q@A at Folkston after Saturdays rodeo but I wanted to address a few questions I have already recieved.

1) all members who do not qualify for fnals performance will be eligable for slack.
2) if you qualify in some events and not others you will be able to run finals in the events you are qualified for and slack for others.
3) slack rodeo will be run with the same rules and have timers and judges.
4) the Q@P contest is a very important event so we will make sure that the schedule in done in such a manner that each contestant will be able to safely do both.
5) $25 per event
6) $30 one day stall and $55 for the weekend
7) in order to qualify for the stall decorating contest you must stall both days
8) all hook up , ad and tie out fees apply please consult your finals pakets for more details
9) all families are more than welcome to attend the free dinner on Sturday night....please come it's a blast
10) slack contestants will recieve a contestants buckle at the awards ceremony on Sunday

again we will have a Q@A in Folkston

At our August meeting prior to the rodeo season the board voted on a sliding scale for finals participation. At that time we had no idea how the membership would pan out but soon after we were blessed to find out that we had grown to almost 100 members; only the top 15 with at least one point would qualify from each event. Why did we have such a spike in membership....well if feel it's ....because this organization does the best it can to offer the highest competive enviornment while building family bonds and lifelong friendships.

We are also responsible for competitive growth and after speaking to the VP,Secratary and tresurer this past weekend we dicided that it is AS important to the contestants that fell a little short of qualifing this year to experience the atmosphere around the finals weekend as it is the contestants competing....this energy may be what is needed to find the extra point or two to qualify next year.

So please NOTE THE CHANGE IN THE FINALS SCHEDULE.
Friday: noon registration and check-in
5pm First go "finals performance." (arena)
Saturday:830am Queen and princess breakfast (hall)
9am Saturday "short go for slack finals" (arena)
11am Queen and princess interviews/crowning (arena)
noon Senior pictures
1pm second go "finals performance." (arena)
**live auction during performance**
630pm free family dinner for all contestants and
families with fun events for the kids
(hall/arena)
Sunday: 830am Cowboy Church
10am awards ceremony for all "finals performance" and "slack finals" contestants.(auditorium)

**please note all contestants will be responsible for meeting all finals obligations so please see the finals packets tab on the web site.

any questions please feel free to email me!!!!!

Hi everyone.....what a great weekend in Williston. It started Friday night with an amazing amount of support for the set up for the SNR. The energy and excitement carried throuhout the weekend which was picture perfect by the way.

I want to first take a line or two too thank each and every contestant, parent, relitive and friend who took part in making the first annual SJRA SNR a major success. Events are built from the groud up and they gain momentum each year based on the sucess of the current years event. I know some were disappointed with the turn out but I was not. What a great job everyone did and what an amazing time those 11 childern had.....those 11 lives that were touched this year will muliply into 111 lives next year....great job by all and thank you.

So then it was picture time....Cherri/Mark you both rock....we moved through the group shots in record time finishing just as the completed running the stock through. So please visit Mrrk's website and support his efforts....he is a very important friend to SJRA who does amazing work.

So on to the rodeo.....wow some tough races to qualify for the finals performances.....even tougher fights for the saddles. Newell is going to be fun to watch.....practice, practice, practice.....but kids please remember that practice will only have an opportunity to pay of if your report card which is due by the Saturday of the rodeo is above a 2.0....we take this seriously so ....you should too....if you have any questions please email me !

Remember we have a membership meeting after Saturdays rodeo before the egg toss......please also remember your finals packets.

Thank you all again for your help and support.....this association is about families and friends competing with eachother but always being there for eachother!

1246pm update: Wlliston Horsemans Park has confirmed that we WILL be able to hold our rodeo and SN event the weekend of the 16-17. There will be NO change to the schedule I posted over the weekend. At this time we will be required to produce a Health Certificate drawn no more than 24 hours prior of your arrival to the property and as alway a current record of coggins. Below is an update from the Director of Animal industry with some help[ful hints on how to avoid contamination. Please know that I will be monitoring this situation closely and updating the chat regularly.

Dr. Holt stated that there have ben no new cases and there will be no shutting down entry into Florida. As of the beginning of next week they will be lifting all quarantines. He stated pulling a health Certificate is always a good thing but in this case does not see how pulling a 24 hour health certificate will help as a horses temp can change due to transport. He stated if any precautions were to be taken he suggest taking their temp upon arrival, no sharing water buckets and no tying out except at your own trailer. I'am also forwarding this to Williston Horsemans Association in hopes to lift the Health certificate order.

Dr. Thomas Holt - Director, Division of Animal Industry

Thank you and God bless

There are rumors out there that all events in Williston are cancelled due to the EHV-1 Outbreak. While there are outbreaks in Florida, SJRA is not cancelled and Williston Cattlemen's is not affected.

Normal precautions should be taken - no shared water buckets, vaccinate your horses correctly, etc and we should have no issues.

Should we hear anything more on this issue from Williston Cattlemen or the State of Florida Vet, we will advise the membership.

Just a reminder that there will be concessions all weekend. We will be serving breakfast and lunch both Saturday and Sunday. The Godwin and Franklin families will be feeding the SJRA families supper on Saturday night. Supper will probably be served during the roping but we won't clean it up before the roping is over, just like last year. We want everyone to be fed! Also, we will need someone to run the tractor.

We are supposed to have wonderful weather and we can't wait to host our SJRA family!

I would first like to thank the gang at Smitty's with a huge shout out to Bob and Andrea for the amazing hospitality they have consitantly shown us for many a year. The ground was as close to perfect as you can get and the weather Bob ordered was ideal.

We have reached the halfway point of the season and we are still gaining new members. I want to thank everyone for the warm SJRA welcome that was given. Time and time again I recieve compliments on our kids and this organization. Truth is the organization is only as good as the people and the families of SJRA fully understand the meaning of competition because there is no better but more so understand good sportsmanship and fellowship.

Please remember if you have any question regarding finals and the qualification process please ask me at the rodeos. I would much rather explain the whys and why nots early versus later or to late.

Group photos will be taken at Jaspar next week. We will take a group photo of each event then a picture of all the Juniors then all the seniors. If you would like individual photos for purchase please see Mark. He has invested (or Santa purchased) a Nikon D4 which is the newest and most up to date camera Nikon makes.Resolution is a whopping 16mps and is capable of capturing better than 11 frames per second...This weekend was the first shoot with the camera. The photo reviewed thus far are awsome,
and he still sees ways to do some tweeking for future
events and photo shoots. Please support Mark.

Let's not forget Dr. Melissa Greer....you get better by watching the film so please email her for a copy of your childs video.

Jasper will host our Team Roping fund raiser which will be help righ after the performance during super. Please contact one of our roping experts for more detail.

The Excptional Roeo for Special Needs is right around the corner and I would like to thank all of you (and you know who you are)for all you hard work in an effort to make this a special day in a persons heart. Please follow the website...flyers...press for details. We all must help to make this sucessful> We are all truely blessed in our own ways and this event will go a long way in bringing us all closer together.

Speaking of closer together! There will be many many families in our graduating class that have been with SJRA for many years and hold board positions. If you want to work hard and except the pay which is smiles on kids faces and life long relationships than see me and I will answer all your questions. SJRA is wonderful organization that will continue to grow for years to come so please get involved. No experience necessary ....just look at your current president, 6 years ago I did not have any idea what a rodeo was and wuite frankly still don't but with all the wonderful people around me I am comfortable in my duties.

One last shout out to all those who help between the rodeos...finishing the last, getting ready for the next and tiing up lose ends with the benifits. You guys all rock...if you want to get involved see in rodeo attire and we will put you to work for the kids.

God Bless

Pat

WOW what a day!!!!!!!!
A huge thank you to Bob and Andrea Smith (Smitty) for there amazing facility, the donation of the Ariat boots, great consession food, amazing arena condition (ground was just about perfect)but most of all the open arms they have been greeting SJRA families with for decades.

We have reached the halfway point of the rodeo season with finals just seven rodeos away.I want to again remind everyone how you go about qualifing for finals.
In events with 15 or more participents; the top 15 who have earned a least 1 point will qualify.
In events with less than 15 participants;all those who have earned at least 1 point will qualify.

I thought the gas ticket drawing was very cool at least for me it was...I want to thank Braxton Townsand for doing a great job picking the winner and stealing the show, quite the young man. We raised over $5k dolars for the organization....thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Reminder: Team Roping benifit and pictures at the March rodeo in Jasper.....Exceptional Childrens rodeo at the April rodeo in Williston ......2nd annual Egg toss Chamionship at the April rodeo in Newell.

Finals packets will be distrbuted at the January rodeo I urge you to read it as soon as you get them as it will contain valuable information. As with all pertainent information a copy will be on the website after January's rodeo which brings me to m next point please refer to the website throughout the month for updates . Patti is amazing at keeping you all informed so use it as a tool to keep yourself ahead of the game. The prize selection comittee is hard at work making sure this years finals is the best ever.

I want to thank everyone for respecting the "birdhouse" team...they said it was the smoothest day to date. We ask them to be accurate in there work and keep the rodeo flowing so in turn we need to understand there need for privacy. If you have any questions ask me and I will get the message to them. Speaking of flowing ....thank you to all the arena help that made yesterdays rodeo so smooth. Almost 300 runs and bearly a hickup....thank you judges, director, parents and kids ... you guys really stepped up.

As I touched on at the meeting yesterday: parents if you are anywhere in the arena, box, bucking shutes or if the need arises have to speak to an event director for a rules question you must be in full dress code....let's all remember we are the role models.....kids you are in code 30 minutes before until we drop the last chute dogger! If you need a copy of the rule book it is on line!

So this months meessage to the kids is......there is alot of rodo left.....set a goal for the second half, take small steps, enjoy your sucesses for a minute then get back to work so you can reach the next level of your goal. Second half of the season starts today don't waste one minute.

"You can even eat an elephant if you do it one bite at a time."
Patti and I wish you all a blessed holiday season and we can't wait to see you in Janurary.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving as we sure did, I must say the family spirtit is alive and well within the SJRA members.

I would like to send a PERSONAL thank you out to the MCKnight family ...what an amazing weekend at an amazing faciltiy. Some of the long time rodeo people there said the ground was some of the best they have seen. The facility was spectacular, the sat evening fire was so much fun, food from the stand well done and it was just plain and simply nice to see them as they are missed....so on behalf of the organization with a big shout from Patti and I.....THANK YOU!

Spoke to Joy Papy over the weekend and the news on Colt is very positive and we hope to see them this upcoming weekend. Also Bryant was competing and doing well at Cinch JR High rodeo in Zolfo so I was nice to see he was feelimg good after getting kicked.

Please remember we are having a general membership meeting this weekend at Smitty's at 930am... all contestants must attend and at least one of the parents. Also please be on time because I would like to get the rodeo started on time so that eveyone travels back at a decent hour considering it is a one day event. Some of the topics I will be discussing: Dress code, event workers, calls by judges then some Q&A's...but...I am most exvcited to discuss The exceptional chilres rodeo being held in Williston....The team roping event being held in Jasper.....and finally information on finals which belive it or not is just around the corner.....so alot to do in a short peroid of time so again please be punctual.

A big reminder....gas raffle tickets are due Saturday....I hope you all sold your two books if not we accept checks for the unsold ones......hey maybe we will have a winner inside the membership this year.

Kids Smitty's is the half way point of the season and the last rodeo before the Holiday break. I will say I am proud of the effort put in by all. I have seen the improvement rodeo after rodeo and if I can offer this one piece of advice: Practice hard each day, repetition....repetition....repetition but when you comes to rodeo day don't overthink it.....have faith in God and your work ethic if strong neither will ever let you down....I don't promise much but that piece if advice is a stone cold gaurantee!

Be safe in you travels and I look forward to seeing you all at 930am next to Smitty's bird house straight down from Smitty's Western Store where Patti and I will support our great friends with some Christmas shopping and we hope you all will do the same!

God Bless,
Pat

p.s. directors meeting following the rodeo...

We would like to Thank everyone for all The many prayers Colt received after his accident. SJRA are truly wonderful people and we are blessed to have yall. Colt had a very good Drs Appointment today. Everything is healing very nicely and he does not have to have any surgery. He received his hard cast today. That makes me feel better. Colt does not question Why this happened, he just accepts it. He knows when God puts diappointments into our lives it only makes our faith stronger, and if everything was easy we would never grow in our faith. Im so glad that we have God in our lives to get us thru these times

Thanks Again for all the emails, phones calls, text, cards, and prayers.

God Bless

Wyatt,Joy,and Colt

I have been fielding many calls and emails regarding a freak accident that happened after our rodeo Sunday. I recently found out that Bryant Youmans was accidently kicked by a horse in a freak accident Sunday after the rodeo. He was kept overnight in the hospital for observation but was released and is feeling fine. For that we are thankful!!!!!

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and keep a watch out for my monthly post!

God Bless

I want to thank everyone who helped get the arena ready at Live Oak for another great weekend of rodeo. Patti and I were excited that our horses did not "break out" for a morning stroll down the highway like they did last year,

What amazing weather we had and I thank all the parents who helped in the areana. We had the many faithful but I also notice many new faces in Hats. Contestants you did a much better job working your events but we are still a ways from perfect, so pleae be in the arena before your event starts so you do not lose your points earned for that. If your secuduled event does not work out than please email Mrs. Patti and she will try her best to accomodate your change.

Parents if you need to walk your child in please do not cross the plain of the arena as this will result in a disqualified run. If you are not sure where that line is then ask the event director. Parents and Contestants remember roeo attire in the arenaat all times....do not put the judges or birdhousers in the position to have to call you out.

A note to all: Our judges work real hard and it is a long day. We are blessed to have two judges who are not only extremely knowledgeable they are plain and simply good, kind and fair people. They view over 300 runs per rodeo and at times will have to make snap decisions. They make the final call not the President, event director , birdhouse or the person leaning on the fence. Please realize the job they have and the good work they do, say thank you and bring them a cold drink because I know these gentleman well and I promise you they have your childs best interest and safety in mind.

I also want to give a big shout out to that "bird house" team. Talk about busy and stressful....they organize, time, imput and flow the progress of the rodeo from start to finish. Through the course of the day I spend some time in the bird house and rest assure they take there jobs very serious. Thank you "bird house team".

Our organization has been blessed with growth and with that comes many new ideas. If you have any suggestions to make this organization better for the kids and the families please pull me aside at the rodeo. I welcome all suggestions keeping in mind they must be for the greater good of te membership. If you think about it on your ride home than feel free to email me.

We have postponed our team roping fund raiser for two reasons. 1) the way it was advertised with a round robin format we would have had 400 teams. This would have taken about 6 hours and with our Saturday rodeo not ending until 6pm we would not of finished the fund raiser until the wee hours of the morning which would not have been good for all. 2) we did not have a complete commitment on the stock for that many teams and did not want to put the stock donated in jepordy. A team of "roping experts" have been put in place and details will be forthcoming.

Our next rodeo is scheduled for B-M arena in Bryceville. I have been in touch with the arena owner and have expressed some concerns that I have been fielding this past week. For those who rodeoed in SJ last year I am sure you will agree it was one of our smoothest most sucessful rodeo with really foot ground for our horses and kids to travel over. When Patti and I did the schedule we were excited to be there...with our increased attendace it will be tight but I have been assured that there will be plenty of space. There will also be concession stands, tack sales , photographer, water truck and a fun time Sat. night.

The competition is tough and sometimes gets thick, the stakes are high....everyone is fighting for a spot in the finals and in the end one ot the top five prizes which are the best of any organization. But let's remember; Parents: You are being watched through the eyes of the children please act accordingly ...Kids: Go out work hard and do your best and when you are not competing cheer on your friends because at the end of the day it's about fun....friendship and family. I often say " I want every kid to run a 22 sec. pole pattern I just want mine to run a 21.9....and thats ok just don't wish any I'll will on others.

Mr. Weekly and I talked this past rodeo and we will be putting a comiottee together to organize a rodeo for special needs children which will take place either after one of our Saturday rodeos or at finals. If you want to get involved please email me or let me know at the next rodeo. Kids will be involved in putting this event on but we need alot of help from parents. We are all blessed in so many ways and giving back is so so important.

I want to personally thank all of you who are so kind and go out of your way to thank Patti and I.....I want too intern thank all of you. All the people who really do all the hard work and all the supportive friends and families. This is a great organizations with rodeos that flow smoothly with kind heart and sole around it. I ask you if you have a concern or and idea to make things better seek me out either in person of through technology do not spread ill will which becomes counter productive to our mission. "Competitve Rodeo and great fellowship"

I also want to thank Colt and Case for stepping up and doing the right thing but let's be serious did anyone of you who knows these two fine gentleman with amazing families think they would do anything but step up....I was not the least bit suprised.....thanks guys!

Thank you...God Bless

p.s.....sell your gas tickets kids!

I wanted to say a special thank you to Colt Papy and Case Erwin...they are two examples of great sportsmanship.

During team roping, they had a penalty for a one leg catch that was not caught by the bird house. And, as a result, they received first place. The both realized the mistake and on their own, came to the judge to correct that mistake. The result was they received 4th place instead of 1st place.

I commend their honesty and outstanding sportsmanship. It is a wonderful testament to their individual characters and their personal values.

Thank you boys for doing the right thing.

Unofficial points are posted on the web site. Normally I will post the official points within a week or so of the rodeo - once the secretaries have reviewed them. However, I am traveling a lot over the next few weeks and may not have time to post them when they are ready. I am back in town November 8th, so I ask for your patience as they may not be posted until that time.

I will post the student work assignments on the home page around November 8th as well. Please review the assignments and let me know if anyone needs to change an assignment. I will re-post the assignments once all the changes have been made and before the November rodeo. The updated list will be enforced at the November rodeo. If parent or child is not in the arena for their assignment, they will loose points.

Also, rodeo attire will be enforced in November - any family member in the arena MUST be in full attire and contestants must be in full attire 30 minutes prior to 30 minutes after the rodeo. Points will be removed for contestants / families who do not follow this rule.

Contestants...we love that you have a great time at the rodeos. But the bird house is asking for your help...when you are in the arena working, please be considerate of the contestants competing - do not throw or play with ropes as it is very distracting to the timers and the competing contestants.

Thank you all for your help in Live Oak....Looking forward to Jacksonville.

Thanks to everyone who helped lead us through our first rodeo this weekend. We had a wonderful time. A really big thanks to the "older bunch" who took Ben under their wings and helped him with the team roping. Him placing in his first rodeo has got him ready to get serious.

I had heard from past members about how great the SRJA is, and I must say you guys truly live up to your reputation. We are really looking forward to making years of memories and many new friends with you guys. See you in a few weeks.
