It's possible your daughter was not picking up on their sudden change of heart in the friendship. This happened to my daughter and I had to have a very frank talk with her about "friends are people who make you feel good about yourself." She was about the same age, and apprently one day she just wasn't cool enough for her friends. She found new friends, but I really had to explicitly talk this through with her. They would say things like, "my mom said I could only have 3 friends over, so you'd make the 4th and so that's too many". Really??? One of the little snits I had babysat for 2 year for free while her mom worked, I highly doubt she'd exclude my daughter. Bottom line, these are not the friends your daughter wants to have. They will implode in a few years and she will have moved on to find new friends. Hang in there.
