Shelling is better in the winter due to the weather patterns, but there are ALWAYS shells on Sanibel, so I know you will find something that will please you. I had good luck at the Lighthouse Beach last weekend. I drove out and spent a couple of hours there right before low tide, and found some cool miniatures.

You'll find stuff, you'll see. Just don't set your expectations for the big piles; those will only happen in the winter OR if we have a tropical depression/hurricane.

Have a good time!
