It is not on Captiva, but Sanibel Moorings on Sanibel would meet your other criteria. It is mid-sized, so neither too small nor too large, has pools and such, but is also right by the beach. Nice screen porches for sitting late, and very nice landscaping, with tours to explain the stuff that grows there.
