Subject: Quick Trip Report

Got back Sunday and am just now getting things sorted out and back to normal.

Drove down last Thursday to Ft. Myers Beach from Western KY, took about 15 hous total.Made very good time driving at night.Arrived in Ft. Myers around 1:30 PM EST on Friday spent the night at the new Hampton Inn and Suites right off of San Carlos Blvd./Summerlin Road (behind the Taco Bell). Nice clean hotel and reasonably priced.Had been raining quite a bit insouth West Fl. and still was when we arrived.

Paid the toll and crossed the bridge around 12:00 PM the next day and never left the island again until it was time to go home.Stayed at Sand Pointe on West Gulf,in a very nice and clean 2 bed 2 bath gulf front condo.This was a private rental from a COC member and having stayed in the complex several times before can say this was the cleanest, well maintained unit so far. Not that the others were lacking just that this one was immpeccable.

Saturday night ate at the Lazy Flamingo on Perriwinkle ,oysters on the halfshell, beer and a cheeseburger for me and as always the food was great.

Sunday spent the day at the beach and pool mostly just lounging , water in the gulf was till a litle rough from the tropical storm but shelling was lacking.Once again had dinner at the Lazy basically repeat of the night before.

Monday gulf was calm and weather was great, spent the day at the beach once again just lounging and drinking cold ones.Ordered pizza for the kids and the wife and I had dinner at Dolce Vita .Had a wonderful time and the food, wine and service and atmosphere were excellent.If you havent eaten here I strongly suggest you give it a try.

Tuesday beach,pool and Lazy Flamingo for dinner.

Wednesday once again spent the day just lounging around wasting time at the beach.Cooked dinner myself that night had salad,steaks,fresh blackened grouper and steamed shrimp.

Thursday beach, pool and dinner in the condo from Schnappers (pizza and wings), food was great and ready when we arrived to pick it up.

Friday spent part of the day at the beach and the rest i spent rounding up supplies for the trip home.Had lunch by myself an The Lazy, (oysters and a pitcher of beer), dinner was Subway.

Saturday,sadly packed up and left that morning and drove through Atlanta and spent the night near Chattanooga.

All in all the trip was great, the no seeums werent too bad, the shelling was lacking but the Island was still magical.The hurricane did not do as much damage as I expected to see, a lot of the pines are gone and Captiva looks quite a bit different, but not really that noticable as everything has greened back up quite well.
