Subject: How does everyone feel about prices?

My friend Sue (who is so lucky to be going to Captiva the end of April) and I had a conversation this weekend. She called me early Sunday morning as the morning show was doing an exclusive on Sanibel for the end of the program. It made me want to go so bad and brought a tear to my wifes eye as she watched it.

Now for the question that came from the conversation. I have been reading on the board about merchants hurting because the tourism is down. My friend Sue says that the prices of homes for sale on the island are coming down as well. But when I check out rental properties, they seem to be booked (or could it be still being repaired) and the prices have climbed over the past few years by leaps and bounds for rentals.

Do you think with the advertising, the TV shows, and the increase of communication from the Chamber that prices will have to go down to attract the many vacationers back or do you think the island will begin to see a giant influx of sales because people cannot afford to vacation there and the owners will have to dump property?

Just a discussion thread...something to think about....
