I tell you...my friend Sue can find a needle in a hay stack when it comes to the islands. She finds the greatest sites.

There is another forum about Captiva (if you want the link just let me know -- dont think it is appropriate to put it on this forum) that is actually running a thread very similiar to this dicussion.

It appears that the home demand is high therefore prices are high. According to an owner and some others, with South Seas being closed, there are 800 rooms/condos not available so other homes and condos are selling out fast at high prices.

I sure do hope that the owners dont get to greedy. Its like the gas prices...if it stays high for too long then people will get use to paying the prices. And those of us that have to pay the prices of high gas will have to sell our SUV's and drive VW Bugs...hahahahaha (ie: not rent on Sanibel/Captiva and stay home! noooooooooo).

Tink- I dont know what to say to your post. It is really hard when you do it on your own. I have to say that I am lucky to have family and friends (like Sue) that invite us on the trips. Without them, it is almost impossible for us to afford a place. What about buying a time share? You will have time to pay it off and always have a place to go to?
