To be honest I only have a Blu Ray device on my PC (cost £169) and do not own a Hi-Def TV or stand-alone player. I was curious to see what the fuss was all about. I was extremely impressed with a select few titles (Lola Rennt, T2, A Few Good Men to name but a few), but was equally disappointed with other FOX releases from the 1980s (such as Wall street, Predator etc.)
I make you right on the point you raised about NO EXTRAS. For fu*ks sake man they boast about the discs being able to hold 50GB of data and yet fill it up as empty as a half-filled lifeboat from the Titanic.
Plus, we would not be able to screencap any images from them for this site due to the copy restrictions on the discs and the disabled screencapture feature. You cannot even get around it with pressing the PRINTSCREEN button to get 'em either.
There IS one way you can do it, but its a whole lot of messing about and I wont bore you with how its done.
I heard that DVDs have an expected 5 years left on our shelves before the new (and supposedly final) format takes over for good.
There's just too much extortion out there with it all, you buy the bloody thing on VHS, then DVD, then you buy the 2-disc Special Edition DVD, then you go to HD-DVD then you have to upgrade further to BluRay.......when does it end?
And I thought I might as well use this as an excuse to promote the Blu Ray release of my all-time favourite movie FALLING DOWN which comes out in May 2009 (USA) and June 2009 (UK).
