JPEG is better picture quality, agreed....
GIF does the job 90% as good, and takes up less space....
There are no complaints about the quality of the screenshots on the website, so why the need to change over to JPEG?
I have spent too many hours capping, scratching my arse, sorting, uploading, programming, scratching my wife's arse, converting, resizing, studying, watching shit movies (Superman IV being one of them), all to devote my life and knowledge to all things Sullivan....
The change over you speak of can only be referred to as the equivalent of VHS vs DVD....DVD is superior picture quality, but VHS has a quality about it where you can still watch the damn thing even if the tape picks up a scratch!!!!
I'm sure the viewers will support the JPEG, but personally I am in favour of the GIF - for PRACTICAL purposes.
