 Did your mother-in-law keep the log? If she didn't really follow up you might sit down with her and write down any incidents worth dealing with. Of course if she wants to spare her granddaughter a spanking there's not much you can do - but she should know that she's contributing to the disrespectful attitude.

If it was me, for deliberate disrespect or disobedience there would be a spanking due for each time. That's why I don't want to ever give them the chance to refuse one thing after another, by my rules they have to get a separate spanking for each time and I don't want them earning 5 or 6 days worth of spankings in one minutes being hard headed.
