A word of practical advice. Find out why your wife behaves as she does. What has she seen or experienced that causes her to react as she does?
For example, many anti-spanking moms once spanked impulsively or in anger. As a result, they felt a guilt that they could not overcome.
A lot of mothers have to get things settled in their mind before they agree that a spanking is in order. It is a little like shopping. A decision that seems to simple to a man may seem rushed by a woman accustomed to looking at all the available choices before deciding on just one.
It might also involve the events surrounding the actual spanking. One mother admitted that she was opposed to spanking because, growing up, her mother used to launch into a tirade before using a hairbrush on her. It wasn't so much the actual paddling to which she objected as it was the verbal abuse heaped on her beforehand.
Then, too, there might be a power struggle going on. The real issue might not even be about spanking the children. Many times women have trouble saying what is really gnawing at them. The resulting conflict often comes out in other areas. The spanking of children can be a biggie.
