Another soon-to-be grad mentioned that he liked the way SSH was very open to everyone utlizing whatever support they needed following treatment.
I think it's imporatnt to stress that SSH is a highly successful medical program. I know I mentioned this on another post, but, to me, the SSH program is an amazing tool for stopping the 'bleeding'. It's hard to focus on anything else if one is still having to think about getting through a days cravings. In that case alcohol/drug use, even while sober, is still the major focus of life. Once the bleeding stops one can concentrate on the healing process. This is where anything an individual can use, whether that be AA, NA, Women for Sobriety, SMART recovery, SOS, the SSH meetings, or any other programs anyone finds useful, and suits their own individual needs, can be used to greater effect. And SSH wholly supports that.
The other aspect this person mentioned was that SSH is not opposed to any sort of religious, or non-religious, bent that others have. It is a medical program so SSH is supportive of any beliefs the patient may have. It is not SSH's main focus though. This allows anyone attending the program to maintain their own ideology without the pressure to 'conform' to one way of thinking. This grad really liked this about the program.
Generally, whatever anyone needs to get and maintain sobriety SSH is in support of. This gives a patient a lot of freedom while at the same time taking those gawd awful cravings away.
